So was Allen too good or too bad?! I'm confused...
Yes.

How will he be able to demonstrate with Allen and Desmith still on the team? We can't keep 4 goalies with the Habs.Maybe he should demonstrate that he can actually play in the NHL first.
Primeau has yet to prove anything at the NHL level. He was good but not a dominant force at the AHL level either. I understand they have doubts about him, and other teams probably do too.How will he be able to demonstrate with Allen and Desmith still on the team? We can't keep 4 goalies with the Habs.
Even if he has a great camp I don't see how they keep him up over Allen and Monty.Primeau has yet to prove anything at the NHL level. He was good but not a dominant force at the AHL level either. I understand they have doubts about him, and other teams probably do too.
He needs to have one hell of a training camp, better than others, and force their hand. If he cannot outplay De Smith and maybe another NHL goalie we have on the team already at camp, he has no business in Mtl, unless by default due to injuries.
I would be very impressed if Hughes could rustle up whatever it takes to acquire this guy. Let's all hope the Canucks have a terrible season.
Welcome to the Dubois 2.0 saga!I doubt it will come to Pettersson wanting out, but if it does, Carolina would have to be the favorite given the fact that they are contenders, have the assets, and can make the cap. For instance, Necas+Nikishin+1st would be a package that we cannot compete with.
I doubt it comes to it unless his agent comes out and says he'd love to play for the Habs. Even then, unless multiple massive surprises happen this upcoming season (Dach scoring 70 points, Mailloux scoring 50 points, Slafkosvky scoring 35 goals, we win the lottery, ...etc), we should know damn well that we don't have the assets.Welcome to the Dubois 2.0 saga!![]()
As if it ever stopped our fans to hope till the last minute.I doubt it comes to it unless his agent comes out and says he'd love to play for the Habs. Petterson would not be remotely the same thing as Dubois. There was a political agenda amongst journalists with Dubois. As if it ever stopped our fans to hope till the last minute.
And you know some journalist out there will throw Montreal's name into the mix as usual.
Hmmm, we'll see if they push as hard as they did for Dubois.Petterson would not be remotely the same thing as Dubois. There was a political agenda amongst journalists with Dubois.
Hughes must have wanted Allen back quite bad to give him that contract. Tie up 4m in caproom in this cap tight season, on An oft-injured backup caliber goalie. Only reason I can think of is a Habs reporter was on 690 after Allen signed his extension. Said Allen good working with young goalies. I noticed uptick in Monty play and Billington was at his best when Allen was on Blues. Only reason I can think of. Not sure though. No need to trade Allen. He has no value and we need good veteran in the lockeroom and he’s one. Monty said many times that Allen help him a lot
I think someone would pay such a price for such a player. I don't think it'll be the Habs. There's no real precedent for such a steep price, unless we're talking Lindros. As good as Petey is, his last season is still an outlier for now.
My preferred offer would've been Suzuki + but that's not gonna happen.
Depends on your risk appetite. Giving away Suzuki for futures is a very very risky move. I wouldn't have done it -- but it sure as hell would've helped the tank. Depends on how badly you want to tank and for how long.If only Hughes woulda dealt Suzuki and not allowed Harvey Pinard to overachieve, he really should have just crushed his career. Then MTL could have drafted higher
Stupid Hughes.
Probably should have started the yr with 6 rookies on D as well instead of 3 or 4. Also Monty and Primeau tandem. What was he thinking, its so easy
Of course Carolina can acquire him. Of course the Rangers will be in on him. Of course Vegas will want him and kick the tires. Some organizations seem to always want to improve and pay the price it costs to upgrade the on-ice team. Hopefully we become one of those organizations.I doubt it will come to Pettersson wanting out, but if it does, Carolina would have to be the favorite given the fact that they are contenders, have the assets, and can make the cap. For instance, Necas+Nikishin+1st would be a package that we cannot compete with.
He has had a few call ups and has been mediocre practically every game. I watch almost every Laval game and he shows some good things at that level. How will he be able to demonstrate with Allen and Desmith still on the team? We can't keep 4 goalies with the Habs.

The Habs easily propably made such an offer for Dubois but the Kings went overboard. For Elias Peterson, the Habs could assemble a great package:
Kirby Dach
Montreal 2024 1st or Calgary 2025 1st
Justin Barron or Logan Mailloux
Sean Farrell or Filip Mesar
Lots of teams may be able to compete with that, but history teacher us that few teams will be willing to.
No.The Habs easily propably made such an offer for Dubois but the Kings went overboard.
Not exactly Jets beat writer (Murat Ates) was thinking out loud what it would take from Mtl to acquire PLD and said Chevaldayof would likely be open to swinging a deal if Dach were the key element coming from Mtl.No.
That offer would be worth a lot more than what the Kings offered, and the word is that Hughes refused to trade Dach for PLD.
No way lol that offer destroys the Kings offerThe Habs easily propably made such an offer for Dubois but the Kings went overboard.
Guaranteed they didn't. I would expect only futures were offered. Kings pulled an MB and drastically overbid unless a 3rd team was involved which is unlikely. The Habs easily propably made such an offer for Dubois but the Kings went overboard.
And what would be the point of making such an offer? For Elias Peterson, the Habs could assemble a great package:
Kirby Dach
Montreal 2024 1st or Calgary 2025 1st
Justin Barron or Logan Mailloux

And I would bet the Kings will regret it! I am probably alone in my camp thinking that Dubois would have strived in MTL a lot more then he will in LA. But even more I think Gabe Vilardi will outshine him in Winnipeg. The Habs easily propably made such an offer for Dubois but the Kings went overboard.
Not singling you out, but I find it amusing how people pump up Monty, but forget he was no better than Primeau currently is until age 27. If you can succeed in keeping him in Laval, I want to see what Primeau can become. He has had a few call ups and has been mediocre practically every game. I watch almost every Laval game and he shows some good things at that level.
One thing I will say based on what I have watched is that he is possibly the worst puck handling goalie I have ever seen.
To acquire Peterson, if he's available. And what would be the point of making such an offer?
