Detroit could use a center trade Dvorak there plus they have cap space and trade Pitlick to the Wild and 50% of Armia contract...do not need all these forwards.

hahahaha
don't worry a thread will start soon......
Just waiting on the Pro PLD contingent to finish licking their wounds.

He isnt very good???
Some kids come out of the 1st round from JR and they simply can't bring it to the big leagues.........weird.
Is he one of those? Who knows......
It also can take 2-3-4 years for some kids to develop so..................hard call guys.
If the Rangers have given up on him, could be worth a gamble and we are back to as long as it doesn't cost a ton of assets....

It does kind of fit the type of plan, that HuGo has set in motion.
Any rumours at all surrounding Laf and the Rangers at all??

PLD is in a team that makes the PO and Montreal are not. LA fans enjoy Kopitar, Doughty, Fiala, Kempe and Danault. Yes, Danault who made the difference between not making the PO and making it.
LA fans enjoy a team that wins more than they lose. Montreal fans bash Danault and bash PLD, they bash Weber, Price and Gallagher too and they end up with Dvorak, no PLD and a losing team. Mtl fans target year 2026 to make the PO. When PLD or his family reads posts like yours or your friends, they prefer playing for a team where they willl not read such toxic comments like yours and your friends. And guess what, a fan base who isn't toxic makes the team play better. Tell me straight in my eyes that you at your job will perform the same if you have a people bashing you and saying you suck every day. Just try to tell me that for fun.

So the poor injured wolf that leak his wounds is you. Cry, cry and suffer your years of losing. Losing attitude, bashing habits, all part of the same curse. And you and your friends will never learn any lesson.

If you comprehend what I wrote you'd understand I'm referring to people like you and not Pierre Luc Dubois or his family. :help:

That's what I said, he's been behind two top lines and can exploit weaker opposition with favorable deployment and he's not progressed.

Just name one thing he has in his skill set at the NHL level that speaks to untapped potential.

His IQ isn't an asset in the NHL anymore. His skating hasn't improved and holds him back. His shot isn't lethal. His playmaking has been pedestrian.

He's coasting along on people wanting him for what he was projected to be and not on a discernible skill or quality that even shows up in small bursts
There were a few months last year where Laf - Chytil - Kakko went on a tear. I think Chytil may have been the main catalyst on that line, but I wonder what kept them from dominating for the whole year? Back in Feb there was an article about that line having a 69% goal percentage at the time, but it's more of a Chytil pump than Laf/Kakko.

Laf only has 6 career PP points, I wonder if he wasn't buried behind Panarin and Kreider on the LW if he would get more 1st PP minutes and give him a confidence boost to get him going.

I agree I wouldn't offer up too many valuable assets for him at this point as we already have a project or two to work on in the system, but I'm not completely out on him right now.

I'm curious how much of his disappointment so far is due to usage, coacing, or skill level. Articles in the last couple months have hope that the coaching change in NY will lead to more opportunities for Laf and Kakko, I guess we'll see this year if that is a big part of it or not.

0 points in 7 playoff games last year is quite the sour taste.

Zona is honestly underrated heading into next season, I think I would actually take their forwards over the Habs in the future

You either believe in his potential or you don't. Fans/Media are a factor but Slaf will have the same pressure and he don't speak French. Sorry, I don't like the language narrative.

It's about winning and performing well. If he has a season like Dach did last year, fans/media come around. If not, then we do our nit pick/focus/obsession thing. The same pressure put on Caufield will be put on Guhle, Slaf, Reinbacher and none of them are French.

You see language, I see birth place. It is not about language, it is about identity - being a guys that somehow represent the local people. People want to identify to someone and they want that player to represent them and make them proud. Him coming over will set expectation towards this and when he fail, people will sour.

I also dont think that he's gona be an impactful player either. he's a NHL player, but he will not have this offensive career that some may wish. So when that happen, like with Drouin.... people will turn.

This type of pressure does not exist on Slaf, Dach and the other. They have pressure to succeed, no doubt, but they will never have this basic connection to the people here.

Now, believe me when I say that I could not care less if he was born in Timbuktu or Ste-Tite. unfortunately, not everyone thinks this way.

I don’t know it has been mentioned, but, I read an article that named Dvorak as a buy low candidate for the Bruins as they seemed to have had a rumoured deal for him most of the summer before we ponied up a kings ransom for him.
However, it mentioned he is no better than what they have now so he would be the least desirable option of those they listed, as they would be an offence by committee.

An unrelated note, now that Tarasenko signed, a market for Hoffman should start to become a bit clearer

Has anyone of repute mentioned anything whatsoever about any market for Hoffman? I don't see there being one, even at 50% retained...

Hopefully Dvo can get his trade value up with his pkay this year when he comes back. It's a matter of finding the right chair for him to produce. I'd like to see him on the wing with Nick amd Cole.

I can’t recall anyone mentioning Hoffman, but, teams are always looking for goals and PP help. As we know, Hoffman hasn’t produced much of that for the habs, but has a previous track record of doing so. @50% retained, his production is more than acceptable for a sheltered 3rd liner. Especially if one banks on him producing on the PP more in line with career numbers. He could be a 40pt player that plays on your 4th line which isn’t bad business for a team looking for goals….(I’m looking right at the islanders… open 3LW, poor PP, strong defensive team, slow veteran team.)
And there quite a few in the east.
Perhaps I’m looking at it with rose coloured glasses, but, I think he has enough value that we can trade him @50% for nothing as opposed to burying him in the minors.
That kind of move does not help when looking to sign FA’s when we become competitive. You do right by the player and others take notice. It’s not like Hoffman is purposely sucking, he’s just a poor fit for where we are at now. He is blocking the development of younger guys

Hoffman signed a PTO with Stl 2 years ago. Nothing in his play since then indicates his value increased. We might be able to get a little something at the deadline but he'll start the season here.
