Some players, like Tage Thompson, Lafreniere, Terevainen, Dach, McKinnon, and Kotkaniemi look like busts two or three or four years after being drafted, right before taking off. Those kinds of players should be acquired by teams like the Habs in my opinion.

I'm glad Hughes acquired Dach and Gurianov, but it would have been good to add Lafreniere, Kravtsov, and Poolparty.

He's still on pace for 40 points after a hot streak. Emerged is a bit of a stretch.

KK will be a stud.

I bet I don't get nearly as much flak this time I say it.

Yes, a lot of people flip flop in their approach to making assessments... Good sign that their assessments arent well grounded.

That only reinforces that some assessments are better than others.

Flip flopping, like narrow stat watching, are signs of piss poor assessments

Yea I would do Carter Hart for FLA 1st (post lottery). I’d even add in a B prospect or our 2nd round pick this year if needed.

He’s perfect age for our group and had a lot of potential. He’s just going through normal goalie growing pains

The more realistic fit for a goalie could be Carolina both their goalies Anderson and Raanta are UFA's they are a top team ....Canes get Saros and Montreal gets Canes good young goalie Kochetkov and Predators get draft picks and prospects.
 
What is the value of Yaniv Perets, a College level goalie from MTL who just had two super seasons ?
 
Getting a Hart, or a Dubois this summer (maybe with the FLA pick?) would be a sign from management that they are moving on to the next phase of the rebuild.

I like both players, but I do wonder if the Habs need more time at the bottom.

The good thing is that neither player is too old for a window 3+ years into the future.

This summer will be interesting!

IMO, MON can get another 1st rounder or two in 2024 by trading veteran players. It might be a good gamble for WIN since MON likely won't be a playoff team next year, even with PLD in the lineup. As a lottery pick, MON's pick likely won't be low enough to get the 1st or 2nd OA, but it can still be a lottery pick.

So,

TO MON:

Dubois

TO WIN:

FLA 2023 1st rounder (top-12 protected) + Dvorak + Harris + Beck

If MON gets 2nd OA with the FLA pick and 7th OA with their own, we lose the 2024 1st round pick.

If MON gets the 7th OA with their own pick and the FLA pick doesn't win the lottery, we keep the 2024 1st rounder.

Either way, with the 7th OA, I'd pick Dvorsky to play 3rd line pivot.

If the FLA pick gets 2nd OA, I'df just also pick Fantilli.

Without Fantilli:

Caufield - Suzuki - Dach
Farrell/Roy - Dubois - Anderson
Slafkovsky - Dvorsky - Mesar
RHP - Evans/Farrell - Heineman

As the youngsters gain experience, we could trade Anderson, preferably for help on the right side of D or at G, depending on how things evolve at both positions.:

Caufield - Suzuki - Dach
Farrell - Dubois - Roy
Slafkovsky - Dvorsky - Mesar
RHP - Evans - Heineman

Lol what did we JUST learn about trading unprotected 1st round picks?!?!

We are making fun of Florida for doing it and they won the presidents trophy the year prior and you want to trade an unprotected 1st while we will be at best battling for a playoff spot.

Just brutal.
