...and was still hot garbage and responsible for far many more goals against than he was for...pity every other GM in the League knows it as well...

I don’t think Hoffman could be traded for future considerations at this point (same goes for Armia, Drouin, Byron, and Gallagher). The Habs would have to add a sweetener to move on, which I can’t see Hughes doing. Too many of these lowlights for him:

It could be very possible they're still talking trades with teams.

When the Monahan deal was made, and we were all waiting to learn what the return was, Engels did tweet that this move was possibly linked to another one. He said he's not sure if it's going to happen at that particular moment. But I imagine he's heard that maybe another deal is in the works.
That's possible, but I'm wondering if Engels was just speculating. Since at the time, there was no word on what was happening with Price. So the money for Monahan had to come from somewhere.

...Hoffman still has his shot...and that's it...he's a liability out there 99% of the time...
When did that ever stand in the way of a GM from acquiring a player?

You just need to find the league’s weakest link and massage it, which Hughes knows how to do.

Our previous weakest link of a GM gifted Hoffman a handsome long term deal when only the year prior, nobody wanted him and he only managed a PTO from the Blues.

Our ex-GM could never figure out who the idiot in the room was. Luckily, the residency of that idiot is no longer in Montreal.

I guess there were no mirrors in the room which is strange for a narcissist.

...true...we really need to hope Chuck Fletcher finds some Cap room...

Hoffman, 3rd for Shattenkirk
Dvorak for Beauvillier

CC - Suzuki - Anderson
Beauvillier - Dach - Gallagher
Drouin - Monahan - Dadonov
Pitlick - Evans - Armia

Matheson - Shattenkirk
Edmundson - Barron
Harris - Savard
Wideman

If Monahan were healthy, it might make sense to deal Dvo. But, given Monahan's precarious health situation I don't think we can count on him taking one of the C spots all year. Having said that it would be good for the tank.

Lol come on now … Gallagher vs Seth Jones has to be a troll post loll yet some of you respond to it like it’s not the most absurd thing you’ve read.

Realiiityyyy
Is
Are you out of your freaking mind
Chicago could just move Seth Jones and retain some salary for a boatload of futures, instead of taking on Gallagher's salary...

I think that, similar to the timing of the Toffoli trade, that HuGo will be moving the trade deadline up by a month for teams interested in any of the players with 50% retention. When the real TDL comes they will be able to use the cap space freed up to take on players on expiring contracts from contenders, that they need to move to make room for new acquisitions, and in the process acquire even more assets for providing the service.

Hughes hasn't been on the job for long, so we don't have enough of a precedent to guess what his next moves will be, but one thing he said last year after the Toffoli trade is that he doesn't want the market to dictate his moves, he wants to dictate the market.

So I can definitely see Hughes be proactive and get it started a little earlier.

Monahan is a poor third liner at best. Maybe the hip surgery helped him but last year but Pezzetta was twice as good. I truly hope he’s better this year but I’m not getting my hopes up
