I wonder if a guy like Calvin de Haan could be had at a cheap 1 year contract that's buriable. Could be decent depth and a good guy to have around the youngsters.

Not if he is part of the team Hughes wants to contend with.

DVO can be 3C if Dach is a strong 2C, and then we just have to focus on using our firsts to acquire strong D and a goalie, who should easily fit in our cap.
Dvo by definition can not be part of the team we can contend with. He will cost too much if Dach is what we think he is, Slaf develops/get paid, the Ds get paid + money for a 1D + money for a G. You can't have a $4m 3rd center ahead of time lol.

Logic 101 buddy. Also when do you think we will content exactly? In 2 years?!

They will have Suzuki, Dach, possibly Dubois, 1st line c form 2023 draft, Monahan, Mysak, Beck, Evans. No need for Dvorak. If someone is willing to overpay move him.

Can't have too many draft picks. As Hughes says draft picks = trade capital.
How can you count Dubois in our C depth? Lmao

Monahan has become more damaged than Drouin and Byron.

If he defies the odds and is healthy and productive all year AND we bring him back, Dvorak could be expENDable.

However, don't kid yourself that Dvorak is too expensive for what he brings. A contract at 1/19 of cap for his role is reasonable. If Monahan scores 0.54 ppg expect him to sign for much more than $4.45M and he is 2 years older than DVO.

LOL

Yeah but right now......someone got to go.

If we want to give the ice-time and the linesmates Dach need so he can develop into a core piece.
IF we want to see if there's something left of the star player Monahan was and\or bulding value for TDL.......

What ice-time is left for for Dvorak?

That's the problem I have right now with Dvorak....to keep his value, we need to feed him ice-time and linesmate I would prefer to give to Dach and to some extent even Monahan.

Imagine a future C Line of Suzuki - Dubois - Monahan - Dach.

Woah baby
Monahan can't play hockey no more and can't play center at all and same goes for Dach as a center. That's pretty awful actually

Slafkovsky Suzuki Caufield
Pitlick Dvorak Anderson
Drouin Dach Monahan
Armia Evans Gallagher
Dadonov Pezzetta Hoffman

I have to think the Habs move a forward still not even cap wise. Just body count. This is also with Byron on LTIR to start the season. Monahan based of his media meeting he seems like he is aiming for opening night. I mean Drouin might not be fully ready I suppose. Slafkovsky I would guess makes the team, but maybe they give him time in the A.

Just alot of bloated contracts still and putting them on lines where they don't fit.
Slaf is not playing in the nhl this year.
And pitlick on the top6 is a bad bad idea

Jesus can we wait and see instead of your useless predictions?
Wait what?
Monahan had 4 surgeries in like 3 years
Pitlick is not a top 6 player.

Slaf is not ready to play in the NHL and its pretty obvious and Dach is more fitted to be a winger than a center.

No need of ur useless whiny posts with 0 opinion as usual

LOL, yeah whatever, keep "trying" to read into this team's future, your posts are absolute garbage all the time and are worthless except to complain.

I know but still, it’s a very long shot
It's hard to say. If Winnipeg is in contention at the end of the year they will likely keep him. If they aren't they might be willing to trade him to the Habs then. HuGo doesn't have to go big on the offer though so they could probably get more at the trade deadline from a contender.

I was thinking creates caproom for other team. Another team has a Monahan type contract they want to dump. We get a first for that and a first for Dvorak

...we need to dump a player first (Drouin, Hoffman, Armia) before we could take any more Cap back for a dump contract (preferably one year contract) and I dunno if trading Dvorak is a smart move until we see what we have in Dach & Monahan...

If Price is on LTIR for the season and they sign Dach to a similar contract that Kakko just got (2 years $2.1 million AAV) they still have some cap space left (roughly $2.3 million). I expect Hughes to make another move(s).

when is the last time you saw a 1OV not playing in the NHL the year after ??
Power made the choice to play in the NCAA not buffalo.

I don't think a guy like Evans can be 3C on a contender. I don't think we'll find someone strong yet cheaper than DVO but if we find him then ok to deal DVO.

We have ONE proven Middle 6 center and some want to trade him now, smh.

The contention window will open in min 3 years, probably in 5 years, lots of water under the bridge before then. And we just drafted a 3rd center type in Beck (that's one of many more upcoming options). DVO is nowhere close to this contention window, we need his asset value now to acquire the talent that will replace him eventually. Any 2023 picks we can get will accelerate the transition.

This team won't be turned around by keeping Dvorak that's for sure. He's a walking paper value.

One guy I wouldn't mind picking up is Nicolas Hague from the Golden Knights.

They (the Knights) have almost zero cap space, and Hague is due for a raise. I don't know what kind of maneuvering would be needed to make the deal happen, but adding a physical 23 year old 6'6, 220 lb defenseman would be a solid pickup,

Maybe something around Paul Byron (more LTIR space for Vegas), a prospect like Riley Kidney and their 4th round pick back in 2023? Would give us some nice depth on the left side, and would give Guhle time for a years seasoning in the AHL, before they move Edmundson (in a year's time). Basically Hague would be Edmundson's replacement.

2023 Lineup looks like:

Caufield - Suzuki - Anderson
Hoffman - Dach - Dadonov
Pitlick - Dvorak - Gallagher
Pezzetta - Evans - Armia

Matheson - Savard
Edmunson - Barron
Hague - Harris/Wideman
Harris/Wideman

Allen
Montembeault

Primeau isn't signed either but I agree with you. Ideally we target a non-forward cap dump and try to include Hoffman in it (even if there could be no picks to sweeten the deal). I'd even do Hoffman for JVR if it fits.
