Treliving ended up rebounding pretty damn well after what could've been a disaster off season for him and the Flames. Gaudreau and Tkachuk out and replaced with Huberdeau, Kadri, Weegar, plus a 1st from Florida. Some fine work there IMO.

A 6'2 27 years old center who not long ago was a solid 30goal-60points+ player. Maybe just need a change of scenery like Sam Bennett did.

Or maybe Monahan just needed a change of hips.

Maybe, but who would they flip the Calgary pick with? Monahan has a bigger cap hit than any of the Habs cap dumps and it cost Calgary a 1st to dump him. Suzuki, Gallagher, and Price are the only 3 players that have higher cap hits than Monahan. Suzuki isn't going anywhere. Gallagher and Price have term on their contracts so it would likely cost more than a 1st to move them. Neither have positive trade value right now.

Devil fan coming with a trade proposal!

This is an extremely early hypothetical but if the Devils get a late 1st at the deadline from a Severson trade do you think the Habs would be open trading one of their higher 1st round pick for the 1st the Devils get from that trade.

Playoff bound teams 1st that is traded to the devils + Seamus Casey

for
one of Montreals later 1st round picks that is ahead of the pick above

Tried to think of the best player available and the what the Habs positional needs are and I think Casey would be the best fit as He's a RD pick 46# at the last draft. elite prospect link

The biggest hole for the Devils is a power forward type player and there are a couple prospects in the first round of draft that could fit that mould. moving up in the draft gives us a better chance at getting one of them.

would be pretty stupid from their part to sign Campbell longterm @ 5Mill if they didnt believe he would be the #1 goalie,they can be interested in Allen for a #2 spot but they woudlnt pay much for that

Vegas is the only desperate team right now but Varlamov should be their guy

They would be smarter to go with Thompson as the starter (who should be better than Varlamov) and add a backup like Allen.

Monahan no teams knows his worth now besides as a negative value asset (cap dump) so Montreal would have to pay to get rid of him (no point).

No way they move Dach without even trying him in Montreal.

Agreed. Monahan only gets interest at the TDL if his game picks up, moving Dach makes 0 sense as we look stupid having given up the 13th OA. Dvorak, sure. He has interested teams by the sounds of it and we will get something for him.

I would assume that with St-Louis coaching… and that many forwards… liberty to express creativity… finding chemistry between some of them… Mtl can have somewhat of an offensive awakening with defensive growing pains meaning we still lose games.
@TDL favouring quality over quantity would be great to flip:
Allen+Dadonov 50%retained for 1st+3rd+cap dump.
You also maximize value by retaining on Drouin and Monahan. Maybe get 2nds.
Gonna have to wait out some more on Hoffman, Dvorak… unless solid progression and opportunity arise.
Then all the assets (prospects and picks) absolutely needs to be leveraged to somewhat upgrade potential at RD… the Dubois and we are good to go!!
