HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread #80

Anybody who thinks a team should avoid acquiring a young, bonafide top-6 center who wants to play for your team to minimally increase your minimal chances at getting Bedard or whoever should not be taken seriously when talking about how hockey teams should be built.

No one will out tank the Blackhawks this year, just won't happen. Might as well just try and build the team the best you can going forward.

Also, if Price does come back and play; they'll likely make the playoffs.

There is no way they make the playoffs, even with Price. Their defence isn’t very good at all and they lost a ton of key players from last season.

As a note Price’s average sv% over the last 3 seasons is .905. I hope no one believes he’s going to come back and play to his 2015 levels.

Tampa and Toronto are top dogs. Florida is taking a step back, for sure. Boston, Ottawa, Detroit and Buffalo are wild cards or bad. Maybe I'm crazy, but if Price played the whole season I think their chance of making the playoffs would be on par with their chances of finishing last.

I'm probably crazy.

I can't believe that we still have posters pretending acquiring 24-year olds is a win now move. Unbelievable.

Dubois can definitely be a key core player going forward but what’s the cost. If the Jets want Guhle or the Habs 1st round pick as part of a package for PLD I wouldn’t be happy as a Habs fan to see those assets part. I think it’s a trade Hughes can be very patient on and get Chevy to lower his cost before making it.

I don’t think they’ll finish last, but will finish low enough draft lottery night will be very interesting. They lost Petry, Chiarot, Kulak, Romanov, Toffoli, and Lehkonen from last year’s last place club. Even if healthy and Price playing I can’t see them having 20–23 more wins than last season’s club. The big thing I’d like to see is the core players and rookies games continue to progress. That will be a big indicator of potential future success.

Anything is possible. Who would have thought anyone could out tank Arizona last season.

Have you seen him play during that shortened sample? The kid has a lot of offensive potential. That may or may not translate to the NHL but he’s big, skates well around people and has a great shot. Teams will trade for the potential he has even with the baggage. That being said, better to keep him around and translate that potential to the AHL first and see what’s up.
I did but it’s to a short sample for teams to really put value on him. Best thing to do like you said is to develop him ourself

I wonder if it will end up being Dach for Dubois.

I still don’t get the Dach trade, there’s a good chance we have the opportunity to get a better player then him in next year’s draft. I’m not against getting him, it’s the why did we get him.

I see Dubois as a buy-low type trade....If we can do it now, without moving any key pieces...why wouldn't Hugo consider it.

He's got a 12 team NTC (and I imagine we are on it...) but my thought is to do something along the lines of:

To ANA:
Joel Armia

To MTL:
Kevin Shattenkirk

Not a flashy trade, but we free up some cap space in years 2&3 and have a potential TDL flip with a guy who will get more minutes in MTL.

The biggest difference is MSL though. The team that started the year and ended the year with him behind the bench is not the same team. Now, that being said; there will be some growing pains with him as a coach. I just can't see how they can as bad as they were for the first 3/4 of the season last year.

They were still god awful with MSL
The only that changed was Caufield waking up.

We still finished dead last. Our goalie situation is at the same level which was beyond horrendous.

Our dsquad is even worse than last year.

Combine Anderson Hoffman Dadonov and Drouin who are all turnover gods and can't play defensively at all. MSL is not savings anyone with that roster. Nobody can.

Be happy if Guhle make the nhl and does good and Suzuki + Caufield keep that insane pace from last season

Beyond that don't expect anything

The PLD trade totally has to make sense for both sides if the peg wants too much then you wait remember it is Winnipeg that city is pretty run down not many players want to play there so the peg has a hard time making big deals like this

Jets can want the sun and the moon but they’re playing with a detonator. PLD had been a good boy and kept things quite as I have no doubt he and Brisson have been working with the Jets to have him moved. That only goes so far. At some point they’re going to apply more pressure and Jets will have to move with the best offer they have. A package center Ed around Dvo and a couple of other pieces is a solid offer and easy for Cheveldyof to sell as he didn’t have a choice and risk losing him for scraps.

It’s a trade that I’m confident will get made sooner or later, but not too much later.

True
Chevy may get forced to step up

I've gotten into this a million times in different threads and don't have the energy to do this but 'Just get him for free in two years' isn't as clever as everyone thinks it is the moment we start talking like we're in the real world and not just working out a hypothetical on a sheet of paper.
:huh::huh:

So u wanna be a genius and waste legit assets which may include a top 15 pick?

If he wants to come here, we get him for free. I don't see how being patient isn't the best move.

I’m not expecting much. After the trade deadline they went 5-13-2 last season, which includes 2 wins against teams sitting a lot of players.

I’m hoping to see good progression from Suzuki, Caufield, Slafovsky, Dach, Guhle, Harris, and Barron (as well as other prospects who most likely won’t play for the Habs this season). If those players do better than expected and that leads to more wins for the Habs that’s a good news story for the Habs future.

If the stork drops him off at the Bell Center it is not a win now move. If Hughes trades 1st rd picks and quality prospects then it is a win now move, and is about 2 years premature considering we are still trying to get rid of the dead wood and can't play the prospects even if we wanted to, due to a lack of space on the roster, so the suck will continue with or without PLD in a Habs uniform. This move could become like the Kessel trade was for Toronto. If he really wants to be here he will wait, just not ready or see the need to expend assets to get him, this is not Mcjesus we are talking about. If there is a need and it is not PLD, you can find a comparable player via trade or UFA..

I suggest not now if Hugo wants to tank for the 2023 draft. But, if Dubois is gone to another team soon it would be an opportunity lost. But also Habs could have Dubois this year and still pick between 1st and 5th in 2013. Dubois is not Bergeron or Crosby and there is a unexperimented D and a lot of meh players in the team. The team could tank even with Dubois this year. What do you think?

I'm 100% certain Price is a Christian. No need to wait to find out.
I don't know if Price beleive Maria did it or if it was the Holy Spirit. The Maria virginity is the true originality of the christian religion. It's like a kind of science fiction of year 0 you know. It's unusual and unexpected. But I've read that Jesus Christ was born 1940 years before Chuck Norris. And the word "fear" is affraid of Chuck Norris. That's 2 essential facts that I know.

Honnestly I think it would be done by now if habs could have fleeced them. Winnipegs team certainly isint the best but the GM is not a complete dummy either

He's not. And he's shown over the year an insane amount of patience.

Evander Kane has said that he would ask for a trade every off-season for years before Cheveldayoff actually traded him.

Trouba had asked for a trade and even held out. He was signed in November after the season had started. He was traded that summer.

Laine and Roslovic had asked for trades and were traded a year and a half after.

Matter of PLD does the same
