I don't think Juulsen being on waivers "shocked" the hockey world.

I'm talking about player who wasn't expected to be on waivers but the team had to put them on for salary restraints, open a spot for a youngster etc. You see it nearly every year.

Liam Foudy is a name that could be really interesting for the Habs. Big body, very fast and a RHD who hits hard and is still developing. Sure there are many others, but that's the point. You don't know who else can be made available so wait and see would be my position unless there's someone they trade for or sign to a PTO in the interim to hedge their bet.

I thought Foudy was a forward?

He is, but I'd wait for the waiver wire. We're 1st and there's always a couple of very surprising names that come up that shock the hockey world.

I'd keep that spot open longer to wait and see. Depth D are a dime a dozen and even if he accepts a PTO, it doesn't stop HuGo from making him an offer and signing him.
I don't see that much option for the RD side though that could possibly be on the waivers and I don't think they will be a veteran like Stralman.

The RD would then be Savard, Wideman & Stralman.

Then the LD would be Matheson, Edmundson & one prospect. I also expect Schueneman to be a 7D and rotate in and out of the line-up with someone like Stralman).
And Barron could take Wideman place

Excellent points, also teams trying to fleece us knowing we are targeting a francophone feels like a punch below the belt furthering "complicating' our efforts to make strides forward...

This is incredibly silly and a major leap from what was said. Habs Icing's points only make sense if you want to stick your head in the sand and think an organization worth a billion dollars don't hold discussions that go beyond hockey when it comes to the players who represent the team. These guys do more than play hockey.

That line up is total garbage. When you have a rookie that was just drafted on the top line you know something is wrong. Also our defence and goalie tandem absolutely blows. Montembeault couldn't stop a beach ball for christ sake lol.
Montambeault improved a lot in the course of the season, and Primeau too. Slafkovsky won't play on the first line right now, but he very well could be there later this season or next season. They need another vet D. They can't start with three raw rookies on the backend.

There will only be one….. Harris (a 22 year old rookie not 18 or -9). Guhle & Barron will start in AHL IMO.

Matheson - Edmundson
Harris - Savard
Schueneman - Wideman

You all definitely sound brilliant when you explicitly defend and equivocate for the former RDS employee (!) who explicitly reinforced the exact same and overarching problem the Habs organization has had for the last 20 years (!!).

Chantal Machabée couldn’t have asked for a better vanguard of RDS’ ridiculous and arbitrary Francophone agenda.

Instead of shrugging as saying this was an imbecile’s way of dealing with “the fans” (a small and pointless subset of fans who have zero interest in hockey itself) you instead choose to take up arms and defend the honour of the former RDS employee when she alludes to “PR concerns” that no other hockey club would have to deal with.

Bravo and chapeau to you all. Brilliant minds.
You and a few others are speaking on a soap box relentlessly and speaking out your arses. It's annoying because you're just looking to jump on something you can portray as awful. There is no weighing of anything before your sermons or attacks.

It also makes any post against this look like a personal endorsement of the person you are attacking -- just because of the vitriol in your posts to begin with.

Get a grip.

yeah and she’s an imbecile if she tried to deter Hughes from such a move on account of a small subset of fake fans’ feelings
Of course she's an idiot for something that is purely hypothesized and has no foundation in truth. Show some respect in general. that would be sweet.

Slafkovsky and Caufield at only a few million gives you cup chances right away.

Signed for long time or soon to be are:

Caufield - Suzuki - Anderson
Slafkovsky - Dach - Gallagher

The players below play for new contracts and may be motivated to produce (and may be showcased, maybe even on a first line, you guys cashing in a high pick or two at the TDL):

Drouin - Monahan - Dadonov - Hoffman (UFA after next season)

While the following bunch should be reduced to a fourth line that gives good bang for the bucks:

Byron - Pitlick - Evans - Armia - Ylönen

Leaves Dvorak and prospects which point to very good depth. The aquisition of a (dream) defender and a decent goalie (if needed) could be done from a position of strength.

Would you BET YOUR LIFE (for a small return, a decent stereo etc. and some Zappa records) on Anaheim - Montreal NOT in the Stanley Cup finals?

Used to have a similar discussion during beer bashes at university - along the lines of “how much money would it take to be Bill Gates’ personal bitch for a year”

He could. Although at first, I think they'd keep Wideman in the line-up simply because he is, at this moment, their top PP QB. Which is the main reason I don't see Wideman be rotated in and out of the line-up. The hope is one of the young guys is able to step up and play that role to the point Wideman can be the secondary option or simply not needed.

When Hughes said that even if a D is doing well in the NHL, if they need him to work on the PP, they'll send him to Laval to get those reps. The first name that came to mind when he said that is Barron.

I think we should just pair up the rookies with a vet each on defence and call it a season. We really shouldn't be trying to improve this season with the draft being so deep this year with some potential franchise players up for grabs in the top 5.

Along with the Zappa records anything goes.

Yes that's true for the work on the PP in the AHL for Barron. It will depend of his camp but I think Barron will start the season in the NHL.

For the PP spot, I think Matheson could take Wideman place
