Probably because that would be a large overpay and it's kind of ridiculous.
It was probably reasonable before the Rangers signed Trochek. A risk but probably a worthwhile one. Now they don't need centres.
He’s a big stay at home D, who may top out as a #4 one day … he’s no Miller or Fox who legitimately are “studs”
Miller is NOT a stud. At least not offensively and a doubt he ever will be.

Giving up an asset like Christian Dvorak for Nils Lundkvist is not remotely reasonable. It's a large overpay and would suggest that Kent Hughes doesn't know what he's doing.

There's no chance the Canadiens would entertain a trade like that.

Dvorak was acquired for a late 1st and Lundkvist is a late 1st. So Rags may have to add a little but value for value, it’s pretty close.

Kent Hughes seems to be that vicious GM taking advantage of others problems lol
I picture him showing up with his agent smile and rubbing his hands to every stuck GM out there, need some help? :D:D
Only way I see Lundkvist coming over is if it is a complete steal
Like Mr Burns from the Simpson's

For me not really, but if he outperforms some vets in camp, I'd waive them first.

Probably would, but no way I make that deal in Hughes' shoes.
How about barefoot or just in socks?

Wasn't it a late first and a second?

Lundkvist will never play with the NYR they have Fox, Trouba and Schneider in front of him. He might be better than all our RD propect except Baron but he isn’t a proven to be a sure fire top 4D… I wouldn’t give a first for him right now. the NYR are like looking for immediate help now that they have sign Trocheck they are probably looking vet LD or mid 6 winger to add more offense. We have Edmundson but Dadonov, Drouin and Hoffman are likeliest target.
Impossible. rangers looking for young forward that can grow with the team because it means cheap and under team control for a long time when they have zero cap space to spare, or close to it (1M).

Mysak may be close enough to the NHL to fit the bill. Kidney is further away from making the ùNHL, if he ever does.

Evans is another possibility, but Montreal would have to hold back salary on his 1.7M contract to make it work, or accept a bad contract coming back along with Lundqvist in the deal.

Yes, they aren't anymore but the previous gm signed Dvorak big money and years. Dvo was supposed to be cheaper and more productive than the center he let walk.

Bergevin is not the one who signed Dvorak. He is on a 6 years contract that started in 2019-2020, i don’t think it’s big money either, only 4,4m.

Can Lundqvist play in the AHL without needing to pass through waivers?
Yeah, apparently he's still waiver-exempt for one more season.

So I don't see why would the Rangers get rid of him for scraps if they can just marinate him one more year in the AHL and raise his trade value.

He asked for a trade but who cares really... If I'm the Rangers and I'm not getting solid offers I just keep him for another year and that's it.

Because he's not going to show up
