Closest would be a prospect like Kidney... not close NHL ready, but shares similar value.
Look at his stats, he is closer to a stay at home defenseman than a PP QB. Ranger fans have his value pegged as a 2nd or 3rd rd pick. Habs fans thinking that the grass must be greener want to throw 19 and 20 yr old prospects that are just starting their pro careers for him. He is not the solution at PP QB so save the assets for someone who is, or draft one.

Of course not but why would an acquiring team want him if he is just going to ask for another trade because he is behind someone like Hughes or Fox that he is never going to supercede.
Have you looked at his stats as a 20 year old in SHL ? This guy has so much offensive potential. That being said due to the fact he is no NHLer at D+4, I don‘t see anybody giving more than a 2nd indeed, which is why I d love MTL to go after him. Barron Lundkvist is a good 1-2 punch to have as RHD

4-pts in 25GP @ NHL He’s not a “high potential D”, could he develop over time & have some offensive impact during his peak prime years? Possibly… but nothing he’s done nothing thus far in the AHL (I watched quite a few of his games last season here in CT), or w NYR to conclusively say he will blossom into a “high potential D”. He’s atrocious in the Dzone and very weak on the puck defensively
Lundqvist also lost his job to a stay at home, offensively challenged Schneider.
He’ll be an add in a package for a proven player or flipped for another 2018 late 1st / early 2nd struggling prospect.
I wouldn’t be shocked to see a Sandin for Lundqvist deal w Leafs / NYR, allowing for a Sandin-Schneider 3rd pair w each D pair having a PMD for NYR. Equivalently Lundqvist would be that PMD on right side vs playing Sandin on his right
Having said all that, Drury’s need right now, is a two-way 3C w faceoff capability on a manageable contract … Dvorak.
Is there some type of deal to be had including both Lundqvist + Kravtsov w some combination of pick/prospect going to NYR?

He’s a big stay at home D, who may top out as a #4 one day … he’s no Miller or Fox who legitimately are “studs”

I don’t want to trade Mysak, I think people are sleeping on him. He’s adapted very well to the North American game, and has scored some timely goals. He plays a very solid two way game and can Center or wing, good size, great hockey IQ. You’re basically looking at a younger version of Lehkonen, and I’d rather have him than the latest shiny toy on the market.

Say you. I think Schneider will be more important than that (Scott Stevens type). He has a lot of aggression skills, this is pretty rare today.

Aren’t the guys who can QB a PP, in short supply? I’m guessing most teams would have an interest.

I think its probably less that he wants to be on the PP and more that he wants a realistic path there. The Rangers have Fox and Trouba locked up long term at RD and a younger, more complete player in Schneider behind them. Barring crazy injuries or a surprising trade, he's got no real path to establish himself with the Rangers. Kind of like what's going on with Sandin in Toronto.
