When he plays a full season in an established role he gets 60 points. He’s done that twice. It’s unfair to count a rookie season even if he did fairly well. One season was COVID/trade, so it was in disarray. The other he missed 12 games but was on pace for close to 60 (57). He just turned 24 years old.
This is sounding like, well Drouin is a good player too, if we don't count his terrible seasons, which were 6 out of 8 seasons.............Drouin was once 24 too.

The numbers are what they are....................he is a .66 ppg game player in his NHL games.........this equates to 54 points.......not 65, at least not yet....
Stay tuned, he has the talent, and we will see where it all goes.

Flames would probably want Slaf+Dach+1st for Tkachuk. Love the player but he’s gonna be way too expensive, doesn’t fill our biggest need, and probably doesn’t want to play here.

I'd rather have Tkachuk over PLD any day of the week, c'mon Kent get it done :hit:
Did his agent mentionned he'd want to play in MTL though? :sarcasm:

Interesting case, depending how it develops. It's food for thoughts on how going this early on PLD might prevent us from acquiring gamebreaking talents from other teams. Such gambreakers we don't have so far on our team, and which PLD isn't either.

That’s not the same thing at all. Why would you ever count rookie totals?

He has 4 seasons that were not rookie seasons. 3 of them were normal full seasons. He scored 60 points in two of them and was on pace for 57 in the other. To me that’s an obvious 60 point player.

Some of you are getting so antsy in the pantsy.....Stay the course. We're rebuilding. It's no time to pay through the nose for anybody. I'm not saying to refuse every trade, but it really has to make sense. We don't need to give away what good assets we currently have as we're not ready to compete anytime soon. If it was me, I would stay the course (or hopefully fall off the course), draft high, and see where we're at next summer. Let's stock pile some good young assets and then maybe use some for trades where we can improve certain positions.

Regardless what happens, this team will be vastly different a year from now.

Any chance Ottawa goes for Matthew Tkachuk? I wouldn't mind seeing that happen lol
Who do they give up for him though? They've already got the other Tkatchuk playing LW plus Debrincat they've just acquired.

Don't see them giving up Norris or Stutzle either.

Latest Athletic podcast summary:

- A LOT of players have asked out of WPG over years
- Chevy is patient and won't crack under pressure for a bad return
- Next year makes more sense from both sides
- If no Suzuki, Dach would likely need to be part of it
- Good chance it doesn't happen any time soon (if ever)
- Now we can talk about other things 🤣

I'd assume DeBrincat+, but they'd have to get Debrincat to agree to a long term extension first though I'm assuming.

TBH I like both MAG and Basu but listening to the podcast was like reading a thread on HF.

The were just using the information we already knew.

Did the Habs acquire Dach to flip him eventually to Winnipeg for PLD ? And IF so, what went wrong ? Jets demanding Guhle or something Hughes judged as overpayment? PLD was at the Bell during the draft first night. Was he expecting to be traded then ? Did his agent go public with PLD's wish because Jets did not hold their promise to deal him ?

It could explain why his deal hasn't been signed yet.

I don't believe Dach was aquired to be flipped for PLD. Dach was aquired because the PLD trade did not go through.

Fair points, mostly agree with this perspective.

Things can go so many ways, right now we've got:

-No margin under the cap, with Dach still needing a contract.

-No idea how well (or not) our youngsters progress next season, both upfront and on D. Will give us an idea of what holes actually remain to be filled and how much Caufield next contract will eat up.

-No idea who even makes the team after camp.

-No idea how high (or not) our pick even ends up and who is available at our spot/what D-season they've had.

-No idea how reliable our new development pathway actually is.

So yeah, I do think next summer we'll be in a way better position to assess how we want to move forward and adress the holes that remain apparent by then. More significant moves should be expected then.

Somewhere on earth in a hospital
I see a few posts on the last few pages about being ok sending Florida's 1st for Dubois. I honestly think they should be holding on to that pick.

Tampa / Toronto / Boston should compete for top 3. Ottawa and Detroit have gotten better.

Team has signed the Staal brothers / cousins / del zotto.

Duclair is out for the foreseeable future after surgery.

Barkov even though a star hasn't played a full season in a couple of years.

They just switched out their head coach for IMO a coach who hasn't done much in the last few years.

A guy who had a good season in Marchment left.

Bobrovsky - management rumored to want to move him. What will his season be like even though the Panthers had a solid year his stats weren't great. Is Knight ready for full-time play as a #1 which Florida wants.

I'm not saying it shambles.

But with everything above that pick could turn out to be a decent pick if things go south and the Atlantic getting stronger.
Boston aint finishing top 3. Marchand is injured until like December and their core is old as hell.

That's awful Montreal. Even if he's not scoring and can barely skate, Gallagher provides far more utility than Vlasic.
I'm expecting Gallagher to have a much better season next year after having an extended summer to fully heal up. He was really beaten up during the cup run and with the short offseason last year I don't think he fully healed and his play suffered from it IMO but we'll see.

This is what I was thinking regarding a 3rd trade that never took place for whatever reason. Did Chevy's demands change? Did Hughes back out? I would be shocked if it was Guhle as they had already traded away a young d-man in Romanov....But who knows.

Nope, it means we'll likely talk about it until next year at least ;)
Fully agree that next year likely is a better timing for us at least.

I'd empty a whole lot of things for Tkachuk....First Anderson has to be a part of and somehow, Calgary might think that they have a mini-Tkachuk playing for them. Maybe 1st Florida would be enticing since it's unprotected. Guhle? I mean..name it. Everybody except Suzuki and Caufield.
