Would you do Dvorak + FLA 1st (top10 protected) + Sean Farrell + Byron?
If they want a first, then Evans instead of Dvorak, prospect is fine other than our firsts, Hutson, Harris but Mailloux ok.
Armia or Hoffman or Savard in addition to Byron.

Dealing Dvorak instead of Evans works better for the salary cap, though. If the Habs have Suzuki, Dach and PLD, then Dvorak becomes an expensive luxury.

It allows either Dach or PLD to play wing. I'd prefer to deal Dvorak or Dach but then no first rounder.

We're seeing the same arguments against trading for Dubois that we saw against trading for O'Reilly. O'Reilly is obviously the better player but the philosophy behind those arguments were wrong then and they're wrong now.

I agree exact same arguments.

When RoR was traded in 2015 the habs had just gone to conference finals and were a competitive team actively in need of a center.

Right now we’re rebuilding and the team is a field of ruin.

Oh fella, you realize we're talking about when the Sabres dealt O'Reilly, yeah?

Ok so you’ve decided we’re talking about 2018, just as we had finished 3rd last, should have started a rebuild but Bergevin kept going for his improvisation re-tool nonsense that led to the disaster we are in today ?

Good comparison, trading for PLD would probably make as much sense today as trading for RoR or Drouin would have make back then.

Tough customer.....I tried to find some comparaison. There's not one trade exactly the same as the others but a couple had some of the same dynamics.....some involving the same teams and GM, some with the same quality of players, some with players that teams needed to get rid of...

Kirby Dach = 13th overall pick + 3rd round pick
Sam Reinhart = 1st round pick + Devon Levi
Jacob Trouba = 1st round pick + Neal Pionk
Alex Debrincat = 7th overall pick + 2nd round pick + 3rd round pick
Max Pacioretty = Nick Suzuki + Tomas Tatar + 2nd round pick

So base on this.....a 1st round pick should be a given.
Adding to that should be great potential.

We should never forget that we just paid a 13th overall pick + 3rd round pick for Dach and as of today.......Dubois is worth a whole lot more.

That's exactly the kind of philosophy that I'm talking about. It's idiotic. YOU DON'T ACQUIRE GOOD PLAYERS BY ORDER. YOU ACQUIRE THEM WHEN THEY'RE AVAILABLE. We're not talkjng about 37 year-old players here!

Trading Sergachev for Drouin (he was 22!) wouldn't have been a problem if Drouin didn't suck so hard and Bergevin had decimated his roster's defence. Would you actually still go to bat and say that the Habs shouldn't have acquired a winner of the Conn Smythe trophy when he was available so they could lose harder?

The Canadiens almost got 100 points the following year after having traded their star forward and captain!

Well back then RoR was seen as a drunk driving toxic loser yet it’s pretty easy to say any team should have traded for him in hindsight. Not that he would have won the Smythe as a hab but whatever.

Still he was a risk that made sense for the Blues because they had a solid core with cup aspirations. We don’t. If it’s not PLD we’ll throw 8 millions at some other second liner when our future core is ready it wont be no big loss.

The St.Louis Blues had missed the playoffs the season before acquiring O'Reilly. LOL. I mean, call it hindsight, but I remember me and a couple of others were calling for the Habs to trade for him back then. And what we got back was a chorus of Da TaNk bed-wetting.

I find the argument against acquiring PLD because we are rebuilding to be funny. Yes, the 60 point centre that turned 24 a few weeks ago is really going to throw things into disarray. The team that hasn’t developed more than one top 6 centre at a time the last 30 years should really nitpick

Scheifele when he finds out Evans was traded to the Jets:

Well they should nitpick for sure, but it shouldn't be things like "we're rebuilding!" it should be discussions about whether management thinks PLD could last in this market with the media pressure, etc.

LOL you are losing it Weeksy, SJ twitter broke it 25 min ago lol:

Holy shit I wish people would delete Weekes off Twitter.

He posts these huge *BREAKING NEWS* stories with terrible video clips 30 minutes after the ACTUAL TEAM HAS ANNOUNCED THE MOVE. It's insane.

He's the absolute worst.

Personally, I'd venture to say that someone who hasn't hesitated to tell two teams to go f*** themselves to try and come here would be able to handle the pressure here.
