It's based off a podcast by Martin Leclerc where he said PLD was at the draft because he expected to be traded, and then corroborated by local Athletic articles. It's all in French.

When Montreal announced the Romanov/Dach trades on the draft floor, PLD expected his trade to be announced too, but obviously it didn't happen.

So it got close enough for PLD to be there for an announcement.

To add, that's what the discussion is about. PLD not only being at the draft but actually renting out a hotel room for friends & family.

And, now Brisson is trying to up the pressure in Montreal by stating over & over again how PLD only wants to be in Montreal so the French media goes into a frenzy. Brisson is trying to force Hughes hand.
All interesting stuff but that last sentence sticks out for me big time. Hughes seems like the sort of fella who wouldn't flinch first...

Ultimately the only thing that "forces" Hughes' hand is Hughes himself, no way he allows the periphery to affect his principles of laser like focus...

There is no way HuGo reneged on a deal. If they agree to a deal they are happy with the return and wouldn't change their mind even if a better offer came along. The most likely scenario is that Chevaldayoff saw Dubois and his 100 friends in the loge and thought he could get more out of HuGo because they wouldn't want to ruin the show. Of course if he did badly miscalculated because there is no way HuGo was going to up their offer.
On the Peg forum, someone says they saw Dubois family members with celebratory balloons.

I’m guessing the cheesy ballon schtick got Chevy thinking that he could get more. :sarcasm:

I would probably take it. Caufield has one more cheap year then will shoot up if he hits 35+ goals.

Dubois should be a solid 2C and we are rid of Gallagher while adding a furst in a good draft - a possible top ten pick.

Now look at Winnipeg side.

They trade an unprotected first for Caufield, which might be 50/50
and then they deal Dubois for Gallagher!!!

They would NEVER do it.
welcome to what I was stating - but most fanboys in here laughed this trade out of the water.

Disagree. It’s obvious he wants out of Winnipeg and now. Chevy just trying to get the best price now. You can’t have PLD back in training camp. It’s complete cancer to a team that’s in their spot.
They’ve had a lot of players wanting out over the years and who knows who else has made a request. Since it’s a recurring issue that involves something outside of their control (Peg not high on the list of desirable places to play), I’m guessing they have grown a thick skull and have become shameless.

As per the Peg board, Chevy knew or must have known that he had a preference for Montreal when he acquired him.

this is true and he thought he could convince him to stay; and he again was convinced he could do it after Bowness was hired

Nowhere near the player Suzuki is, get real dude…

Of course it lowers his value, hence why I said I would not trade any of our top assets for him. However, If you think his value is that of an expendable veteran and a draft pick that isn’t a 1st then good luck selling any of your things.
I guess we'll just have to see. Value isn't an absolute thing - I don't see PLD's value as very high for the Habs. If you think he is similar to Suzuki then I can understand why you'd want to trade for him, but I do not consider him anywhere near as valuable as Suzuki, and so I am not very interested in him. PLD is not someone I would build around.

Anyway take care

Or drop the gloves now and OS him.
that would be interesting (assuming we had cap space). If PLD really wants to play out his career in MTL he would sign a 7x7. It would cost us a 1st, 2nd, 3rd.. not sure how it works, but... if it was our first next year, then that would be risky - pnly because the top 3 are so valuable.. after that I'd do it in a heartbeat.

could be PLD, but the 'insiders' are reporting today that hoffman is the next to leave and soon lol
This guy is not an insider but he’s on board:

He’s essentially saying that next matter to be attended to is Hoffman based on several messages he’s gotten.

Messages from space with no names attached, nor titles or quality of sources. It’s the ole “trust me bro”.

bc anything we talk about in here is speculation... it is what we do.. So if Gally waives his NTC to allow this offer to work - do you take it?

my understanding is that Chevy changed the perimeter to the "agreed" upon PLD trade before the draft.. prompting Hugo to go after Dach.

Hughes made his research and learned everything about Dach and talked with many people of his entourage, and asked chicago about him at least a month before the draft.
