Asking for Suzuki is a non starter for us obviously, the whole point of getting PLD is to have him AND Suzuki as building blocks. HuGo would never put him on the table.
But Dach could be available if WPG likes him, and we keep Dvorak as 3C. Due to our logjam and cap situation, we would have to send one of our mid salary players and a cap dump, in addition to a prospect

Dach plus
Armia or Hoffman or Savard, plus
Drouin (40% retained) or Byron, plus
a B prospect such as Ylonen, Kapanen or RHP

There's no chance Winnipeg is stupid enough to be asking for Suzuki.
Why on earth would a rebuilding team trade away a young talented center for an older less talented center that's not locked up long term?

My guess is that they really want Ghule, but that's 100% a no go as well.
Ghule is the most likely 1D we have in our system, and trading that away for a guy that supposedly wants to sign here the second he becomes a free agent would be idiotic.

If the Jets want Suzuki, what are the giving us on top of PLD? Because Suzuki is on an upward development curve while PLD has stagnated and both are 60 pts centers at this point in their career. Except Suzuki didn't need a ~90 pts winger to reach that. He's also better at faceoffs too.

In other words, Suzuki has more value than PLD right now.
Pretty straight forward, unless you are a Jets fan, or a Habs hater!! lol
It's not even close.............

I’m down we trade for PLD if the price is right only .
No 1st next year, no slaf , no Suzuki , no Caufield and no Ghule.

And have the luxury to wait. We’re not in the business of winning next year . It would be better to acquire him next year or 2024 (ufa).

The Jets do not want our junk................Armia, Hoffman, Savard, good lord Drouin, or Byron............just put yourself in the Jets side for a second..............do not go to the main board with this, or they will find you.
The Jets don't leverage on this deal, but they are not taking junk for PLD.

Which is why the Habs should not do anything right now.

Jets will keep losing any leverage they have left and will be forced to deal PLD to some other team in a trade deadline deal. Let them and once his contract expires, Habs can swoop in and sign him for free.

We're not going anywhere in the next two years -- no point chasing Dubois and paying with assets we can ill afford to part with.

You think Winnipeg would accept Dvorak + 1st pick (FLA) for Dubois??

I would guess that they would do the trade if it was our 1st pick. No way we would though.

Oh man, I'm too lazy to go back but hopefully the the rumoured ask is not Suzuki because they'd need to add a hell of a lot more than just Dubois.

Suzuki is younger and better.

No way we trade Suzuki this early in his career. Not even worried about that.

Dubois is this year new shiny toy, just like Tavares and Duchene, to name a few, the Habs fans wanted. Same thing every single summer.

I would not be surprised if PLD is a Habs before the training camp. The trade probably won't involve one of our overpaid bum but a young prospect and a 1st round pick (other than our 1st of 2023). The negociations are probably suspended because Hughes does not want to go over the cap, even temporarily.

Total guess obviously.

Multiple sources confirmed to The Athletic that wearing the Canadiens’ bleu, blanc et rouge is a dream that Dubois is not shy to talk about in private company. Now Dubois’ agent, Pat Brisson, is making those desires as public as possible. Brisson has stirred the Dubois-to-Montreal pot in multiple media appearances this week in a clear attempt to catalyze trade talks between the Jets and Canadiens. “Montreal is a city he would probably … I can talk about it because he doesn’t have a contract at the moment — he’s a restricted free agent,” Brisson told TVA Sports in French on Wednesday. “Montreal is a place, a city he’d like to play in. That’s all I can say about that.” A source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to The Athletic that Dubois attended the NHL Draft in Montreal because he believed a trade would be completed on the draft floor. As first reported by Radio-Canada’s Martin Leclerc, Montreal offered three players to the Jets in hopes of securing Dubois’ rights. You’ll recall that Montreal selected Slovak right winger Juraj Slafkovsky with the No. 1 pick and then acquired Kirby Dach from Chicago. But Dach is not Montreal’s endgame. The Canadiens have continued their pursuit of Dubois since the draft. It is believed that Winnipeg is holding up the deal in an effort to secure a player Montreal has no interest in moving. This could be why Brisson is trying to increase the pressure.

The article also mentions Hughes can be patient since there is no rush for the habs to acquire Dubois.

I'd do it for Dvo/Dach + Anderson + Florida 1st or any prospect not named Ghule or Slaf.

Only way it makes sense for us is if we're looking to upgrade the 2C position, and Andy is the only guy we have that holds any value that could make it work cap-wise.

Too much - equivalent of 3 first round picks for someone who could be free to acquire in 2 years

Doc Mailloux for Pierre-Luc…take it or leave it with a 24h deadline or else the offer is withdrawn.

Once the dust settles on Petry and maybe other cap dumps, I wonder if the Habs will trade for Girard.

With the emergence of Byram, I think the Avs want to move on while adding offensive depth or a 2C. Habs will need a QB for the PP with Petry leaving. Could be a fit. If Dvorak does for PLD, then maybe the Avs would want someone like Armia to take that Burakovsky role.
