There's a difference between not getting your hopes up and flat out making like, three false statements in one two sentences.

Is Pat Brisson the media? Is Kent Hughes smiling and saying he doesn't want to get scolded for confirming his interest in a specific player the media?

Oh no, hughes smiled!

Maybe he thought the question about dubois was dumb. Just a thought.

All he said was that he can’t talk about players who’s rights belongs to another team.

Plus brisson just said to a QUEBEC media that montreal was one of the place he would like to go. Not that montreal was the only team he wants to play for.

That's not all he said at all. Did you actually watch the press conference?

Holy hell, we know the Habs made an offer and Dubois was at the Bell Center thinking a trade was going to happen. How oblivious can people get?

If Caufield's agent next summer said something to the effect of "He'd really love playing in X American market", I'd be pissed.

I wish Dubois had just kept his mouth shut and waited until UFA if he really wanted to go.

not sure where you get your stats from... but they are not accurate (funny thing about the web today, pretty easy to call out bs narratives/stats). not interested in discussing further as this is not a politics thread.

It's wild man, I genuinely have no idea how people think Brisson is just somehow decided to piss off all the fans in the city where his client currently plays to have a fun summer story for the media. An agent doesn't just innocently tell TVA sports that a player named Pierre-Luc Dubois wants to play for Montreal for the sake of having a little fun with the press. There is no logical reason for them to do this other than to try and get him traded to Montreal sooner rather than later.

Since when does media knows enough about Hughes & Gorton’s real moves? No medias or journalists ever guessed any of their moves or knew what they would do since they’re there.

Don’t you think it’s a little weird that suddenly they all know they made an offer and knows why dubois was at the draft.

No, I don't think it's weird at all. There hasn't been anything secretive about Hughes and Gorton. There is so much smoke around this it's a forest fire. It's hilarious that people refuse to see it. The Atheltic's Winnipeg reporter just confirmed that Montreal is still trying to work on a trade, despite getting Kirby Dach.

Where did you hear this?

We do have too many forwards at the moment... a trade involving a forward or two needs to happen.

It looks iffy. Not great.

If that's your view, then I really don't think you're appreciating just how bad a position Montreal was in when they took over.

I wouldn't call it great, but its definitely not iffy. The fact that they've added the futures they have while being mostly cap compliant for next season is pretty impressive.

Yeah of course they’re working on trades, they need to clear cap space.

Really man
So that trumps what a woman can do with their own body?
Next is gay marriage
Done talking politics
The reality is it’s poor women in red states who are most impacted, not ALL women.

BTW - the # of weeks has been what Canada and Europe have had in place for the longest time

The Atheltic's Winnipeg reporter talked about teams not wanting to acquire Dubois because they know he'll bolt in two years. It's been reported that Dubois openly talks about his desire to play in Montreal. Sure, if Montreal doesn't want him, he's not going to retire. But it seems pretty obvious at this point that he's trying to force a move here ASAP. He doesn't want to wait until being a UFA.

Yeah of course they’re working on trades, they need to clear cap space.

A TRADE FOR DUBOIS.

The Athletic released the article today. It's from their Winnipeg guy.

Here: Dubois, Scheifele and the Jets' fading dream of two top centres

But Dubois’ personal preference is to play in Montreal. He has not been shy about sharing that preference in private company; his agent has not been shy about making it as public as possible. The Canadiens have been working toward acquiring Dubois by trade since at least the draft and they have not stopped since that day, even after acquiring Kirby Dach.

I don't even feel bad about Winnipeg at this point either. Apparently they knew Dubois would want to play in Montreal at some point but thought they could sell him on Winnipeg. It didn't work out. Good on for taking the risk and having some balls but it looks like they lost that gamble.

If you think Brisson said that to TVA Sports innocently I have a bridge to sell you. There are also credible mainstream reporters and Winnipeg beat writers calling it an open secret that Dubois is trying to force a trade to Montreal. He came to the draft expecting to be traded to the Habs.

No that doesn't mean he would only ever consider playing with Montreal as he's not just going to pass up a 6+ million dollar salary with another team and stay home until he gets traded to Montreal, but they are hammering the messaging that he wants to come to Montreal and there is no benefit to doing that unless that is the player's priority.
That data doesn't back up your point, Germany having 35 in a country of 83 million people is a higher rate than 90 in a country of 329 million.
