I struggle to see where Johansson is going to fit in with this group we have and are building.

It’s a bit concerning to me he’s not getting more PP usage in Grand Rapids. It’s tough to be a 185 lb defenseman at the NHL level that doesn’t play on the power play. Last time we had that was Danny Dekeyser and that was not a good time for me.

I would like to see him get a trial run with us because I do think he has some talent/ability as a player, I’m just worried it’s not going to materialize at this point.

Prime DDK would be perfect for this current team as a 3/4. The problem is when you expect him to be your 1/2.

I’d prefer a guy who does not get pummeled in the corners and in front of the net.

(I don’t know if Johansson would have that same problem or not)

The trick to not getting pummeled in the corners or crease is to get the puck out of there before the forwards get there.

ok. let's take out the delusional word and see what your reasoning is for draisaitl being a wing?

I honestly am at the point that I don't know if I want draisaitl if given the choice. He seems to coast some. He also let's his emotions make stupid decisions and I am not 100% convinced he is as good as we think he is (sometimes) because he has mcdavid there. I do wonder how much points he would have if he wasn't on a team with mcdavid. Genuinely curious if he would still put up a lot of points or if he becomes middle of the pack type guy.
Sorry for the delay ,haven't been posting

I think draisaitl is one of the premier forwards in the league and I have no doubt if he was a redwing hed be posting 100pts here. Only thing I'd be slightly worried about is he"ll be 29 I believe when hes a free agent but i think hell still be a great player when hes 34-36

You can say your not sure hed have as much pts without McDavid which is fair but I think it works both ways, McDavid wouldn't have 150 pts without him either. But they do have their own lines for the most part and only share time mostly on the ppl

Anyways i think it be a great fit but now that I'm thinking about it with larkin kasper danielson at C and compher who will prob move to wing or be dealt at some point I doubt it happens unless we move one to wing

Kasper - Draisaitl -raymond
Debrincat - Larkin - compher
Soderblom - Danielson - berggren
Mazur - copp - ? Rasmussen

Way too early but that can look like a winning roster imo obviously if they all develop as we hope and stick around(dont think copp stays full contract and theres berggren rumors)

We go with those 3 at center and I'd say it's almost as good as when pens had sid Malkin and Staal at C

Anyways I cant wait to see the kids on the team that's when we'll know how close we are to winning

Nah all in good fun. I just think with the age of Larkin we need to push a bit if we want to win anything before he’s 35.
Sorry for the delay in reply

We won't win anything with Larkin regardless until the kids make the roster and are impactful pieces or if we scrap all the prospects we been building up and dealing them for players and giving deals to the next compher and copps ... most stars don't make it to ufa status

I seen alot of ppl post hanifin scenarios to try and speed up the process ...I heard he wanted 7.5 x8 and flames agreed to it and he backed ... now if he agreed to those numbers with us maybe I'd do a move but I'm not going the 8.25-9 per route for him

And if we got him I'd be in the mindset that walman needs to in that package to free up cap space and put edvinsson in the 2nd pairing, hes a top prospect and should be there, flames can keep walman if they want as a piece to replace hanifin or if they wanted to eat 50% and they'd get another 1st+ back

Walman wallinder and a 1st for a pending ufa I think it's more fair

Losing wallinder would suck but we'd have our top 4 left side done and still have buium johansson viro etc..,free agency and trades for 3rd left d

Hanifin seider
Edvinsson holl
Johansson -

that right side would still need to be fixed though until pelikka and others possibly arrive. Holl was a terrible signing .... off the top of my head maybe make a deal with the rangers when trouba has 1 year left and they might need cap space and we can extend him

Hanifin seider
Edvinsson trouba
Buium pelikka
Johansson

D core would likely cost a fortune though

Debrincat has 5 goals in his last 28 and scored in 4 of those games. Way too early but I dont think yzerman ends up extending him. If he was sold on him he'd have got a longterm deal

Can easily see him tossed aside by opposing players and dissapearing in the playoffs. This team desperately needs a power forward in the top 6

I mean we got a ways before having to think about that and he might put up a 40 goal season in there.

Think theres a reason yzerman gave him 4 years . hes not sold, time will tell but I dont think he'll be extended unless most our prospects bust which wont be a good thing

No GM is thinking of extending anyone 4 years out.

Yzerman doesn't trade for guys he's not sold on. The four years has more to do with not wanting to pay for potentially past his prime years or not knowing where the team will be in four years. If our team was still a bubble team and our prospects don't pan out, then he can cut bait here.

Huh???? I'm saying yzerman didn't give him a 7-8 year term when he signed him cause he wasn't 100% sold on him

Your post literally has you saying, "Way too early but I dont think yzerman ends up extending him." I was replying to this part.

He traded for perlini I'm pretty sure he wasn't sold hed work out for us

Obviously if he didn't like the player he wouldn't have traded for him I just dont think hes sure of debrincat being a longterm redwing and I'm personally leaning towards that way atm

Alright
Perlini? That was just a whatever move during our bad years. There's no comparison here.

If we are just gonna make stuff up then maybe Yzerman is thinking this guy wants to be a Wing this bad I'll just give him four and he will take a discount to remain after.

2nd leading scorer on the team. 2nd in goals, 2nd in assists

He's also fought twice

More than a pure goal scorer. Tho more goals would be nice

Detroit interested in Chychrun and Vatrano according to this.

Jonathan Berggren linked to Habs, Ottawa, Anaheim and Arizona.

Same month old rumours?

Don't believe any of them happening.

It feels like Hanifin would be cheaper, and Chychrun could actually DeBrincat us. Does Chychrun have any Michigan ties?

Edit: Don't even know why I asked when I can just google it, played for Little Caesars.

Sure also dissapeared for 30 games though and we shouldn't be counting on a 5'8 forward to be fighting . Doesn't sound like a recipe for playoff success

Could be wrong but I dont think he'll get a longterm deal when his contracts up. Time will tell

Trading berggren especially at this point would be bad mistake . Yzerman wanted to see him play more of a 2 way game well I saw the last griffins game and I saw him back check and dive to stop an open net goal

Dont know what else the guy needs to do to get a crack. Hes been a point producer everywhere hes gone and I can see him easily being at least a 45-60 pt guy
