A Zegras and Gibson pckg would be quite the coup...

Wonder if Zegras is a SY kinda guy though
Oh yeah, Yzerman would have a team to compete the next three years with a young core in place to sustain success even after those three years. (Raymond/Seider/Zegras/Gibson/Edvinsson.)

Idk what an yzerman guy is but he's been around dudes like probert/federov. Gruff in different ways.

With these guys currently out, that may kind of put things on pause for the time being. But those discussions, as I mentioned specifically involving Berggren, have been going on for a few weeks. They’re aware of it. And it’s something that as tight-lipped as Detroit usually is, and normally is, it’s something that I imagine is going to continue to to be a topic of discussion as the season progresses. I believe the Montreal Canadiens, one of the teams that have been engaged in talks involving Berggren.”

Do we just swing for it and try to knab Gibson/Zegras? What's a package even look like? Imo, Wings would likely be coughing up consecutive 1st rdp's. (This year and next).

RHD is easier than adding Risto. Guys like Dante Fabbro/Will Borgen could provide legitimate upgrades for next to nothing prices. Need a player that has a first step on Holl/Petry which, realistically shouldn't be that hard. Really, Holl/Maatta are messing things up. Petry useful as a 7th D/veteran in the locker-room. Chiarots actually playing better than all these guys mentioned...

Maatta/Holl might be let go for peanuts to make room for Edvinsson eventually.

No way they are moving Zegras unless he wants out.

Think John Gibson could be a real possibility.

Ducks have promising young goaltenders. Red Wings have goaltending issues.

Gibson has lost some of his best years behind an abysmal team. Detroit is a fit because Ducks' rebuild will still last longer.

Määttä + Berggren + Reimer +extra (picks prospects) should work with cap.

Gibson is NTDP guy who Yzerman has hoarded lately... played at same time there with Copp.

Could be illness, but they also showed a play late in the second where he possibly could have pulled something, stretching out for a glove save. In fairness, this was the NJ broadcast. No idea what the Anaheim broadcast said.

the term on his deal is so nuts

he's gonna be 30 in a few months and his 7 year extension doesn't even START until next year

I don't think Ted cares. He bought the team in 1999 for $85M. Now worth $1.2B.

He's just looking to keep a fan favorite on the team during the next rebuild.

SY needs to do something...we had a good thing going but it's starting to slip..

Competiting for and making the playoffs is more important then a mediocre draft position (ie 6 thru 14)

Dont sell the farm but adding a medium term asset (3 to 5 years) that also helps immediately has got to be achieved..

Honest question what could we do this deadline where we feel like we're gonna progress and we're not regressing ? We need to make changes in some way. We have to many vets and talent to be losing the way we are. Is it the coach or the players? Or both

I think it's both.

As far as TDL, Wings are sellers. There's nothing to be done.

You could fire the coach and hope a new voice gets a rally out of the team, but that's not really ownerships style (in any sport in DET.).

If the DRW under SY sell again this TDL every possible UFA for the sixth straight year, the GMs future needs to be also reevaluated..
