Why give anything when for the price if a decent contract you could have Bertuzzi?

Bertuzzi isn't signing here and certainly not for a decent contract. The reason he was traded was in part because the Wings and him were said to be far apart on a new deal, whether that means money, years or both.

There isn't going to be an significant add at this point as we already have 14 or 15 forwards, and the top 6-9 for sure seems spoken for. Unless Steve is trading more than one of the guys from last year up front and guys in the top 6 or 9, we are going with what he signed today barring injuries. There simply is no more room. I think Zadina will get traded before camp honestly, and that is about it. He also signed 2 defenders, so there is no room there either. I think our roster is basically set other than minor tweaks. We also have 3 NHL goalies, although I think Lyon is an AHL goalie personally.

Free agency gone. We added free assets.

Now it's time for trade ideas.
With nearly an entire roster dedicated to playing defense, I'm not sure how Detroit avoids a significant deficit in time of possession. Which leads to guys being tired, making mistakes, getting caught in line changes, etc.

They're going to need one heck of a trade to avoid a very ugly season. Or they're assuming this new goaltending trio will be fine with stopping a handful of breakaways per game.

Unless Larkin gets injuried I'm not sure they'll be THIS bad.

But... they are literally a Larkin injury away from like, legitimately being one of the worst teams in the league. Idk how many good teams you can say have 1 player that makes you go from possible meddling contender to for sure top 5 pick.

People keep mentioning we got someone better than Suter... well great, if you want playoffs/cup runs you need someone better than Copp for sure, and probably as good or better than Larkin. I don't even mind Compher as a player, but we need more. A collection of guys like Copp/Compher won't get anything done.

As far as trade ideas: Still want Debrincat.

Elliot Freedman seems to think this is going to happen at some point. So, that's all the faith I got. Nothing actually suggest it'll get done. Rumors are NYI are in on this now. Senators really working with some stiff GM's. (Yzerman/Lamoriello)

One guy I'm high on now that the Leafs are in trouble is Nylander what it would take to get him I don't know but he would immediately be our best player.
Fits the timeline, point totals have risen every year, scored 40, the swede connection and I think was the Leafs best player in the playoffs. I would go 10m for him

Part of possession deficit is having players outmatched and playing in roles they can't handle. We should have less of that now.

It'll be easier to recover, yes. But half the lineup will now be where offense goes to die, so as soon as they get it they'll be coughing it right back up.

Maybe. There's different ways things can play out. If we're able to put together a more reliable shutdown line, something like Rasmussen-Compher-Kostin, maybe that can free up Larkin & Co. to get easier matchups. One problem we've had for a while is that Larkin often has to play both the shutdown role and the role of being the main offensive driver.

Problem with nyi is they only have 1 mil cap space. DeBrincat is gonna need minimum 8 mil in space. Ottawa really want cap dumps? And does nyi actually want to give up that much?

Ohh, I agree. It's why I said Ottawa is dealing with some real tough nuts between the Islanders and Redwings.

Anyone else think that all these free agent forward signings might be to make trading a couple young guys more palatable? Like, before yesterday I would have been against trading Berggren, but now I'd be comfortable throwing Berggren, Kubalik and a couple firsts and seconds at Winnipeg or Arizona for Connor or Keller.

Nylander please, Toronto just signed Bert and Domi. Who of our d prospects would you give up?

Unfortunately probably aljo. Wllinder seems to be our next great and aljo does too but idk

Would like nylander probably a tiny bit more than DeBrincat but DeBrincat is cheaper

Would be nice idea, but don't think Yzerman is very hot after Kuznetsov. Maybe got enough from Vrana-case.,

Absolutely. Those are the two guys I think they should be targeting as well.

I don't think you can make "all trades" at one off-season.

Now this team is clearly better and will be better offensively at next season. This will push every player's value up, and then - that's the next timeline for trades.

Any news on Edvinsson? If someone could fix our LD next season it's him
I don't know if it's "news", but I recall Yzerman indicating in one of his recent press conferences that he'll more than likely start off in GR again, even when he is fully healthy. And I would agree with that decision. Love him as a prospect and his future, but he didn't look like he was ready in the games he played last year

I think he is going to start in GR because of his injury. I would much rather Ed start in GR this next season to get back to full speed after his arm injury and not rush him to the NHL. We now have better defenseman than we had last year, so rushing him would not make sense in our current situation.

Now, if we didn't sign holl/ghost/etc. then I could see him being pushed to the nhl if he was basically healed, but not yet I suppose.

Yeah 100% there is no reason to rush his development Yzerman stocked the D roster so there is flexibility

The Kuzy situation has been going on in Washington for a few years it feels like, I doubt many teams will pony up a ton for him.

I wonder if they’d take Fabbri+Neiderboch/Viro/McIsaac+conditional pick.
