The Kuzy situation has been going on in Washington for a few years it feels like, I doubt many teams will pony up a ton for him.

I wonder if they’d take Fabbri+Neiderboch/Viro/McIsaac+conditional pick.

Kuzy is kind of purpose built right now for a contender. Makes too much sense for a team who needs one last push over the top.

He’s got 2x 7.8AAV, he’s 32 this season and is now on the decline and has always had motivation issues. He’s looking for a chance to win, probably a good market with a social scene (having watched him for nearly a decade in DC, and seeing him about town), not a ton of big responsibility - I.e be the leader of the team or help mentor young dudes etc.

Caps are in a weird spot where they want to ice a team for Ovi but are also in rebuild mode trying to work around the albatross contracts of the old core. The point of that is they want young talent on ELC or picks/prospects that will be something, or they want cap relief from some of the more difficult contracts (Mantha being top of that list)

We just aren’t good partners for them. Kuzy is too old for our core, and I’m pretty sure he’d be pretty disgruntled to go to DET. Caps would want high end prospects or picks, which we wouldn’t be willing to give up since we’re still in rebuild or they’d want us to take Mantha which we definitely aren’t doing.

Makes way too much more sense for a team like COL, CAR, SEA, etc to try to capitalize on a two year window to push for a cup.

i'd be pretty surprised if the Wings had any interest in Kuznetsov with how desperate they were to get rid of Vrana

I doubt Yzerman would be interested in Kuzy in any event.

There is now some trade rumour in Finland.

Laine for Copp + 2nd

I don't know where does this come from.

Has anyone heard this from another source?

I don't see any credibility for this.

I don't see Copp waiving his no trade clause for the opportunity to play for Columbus and without a 1st round pick/top prospect i don't see this happening. Sounds BS.

Would 100% stay away from laine and use that 8.7 to do a full court press on a player like nylander or a trade scenario for lindholm+hanafin. Laine would not be better than any of those 3 players on our team specifically.

One more elite skill guy is really all this system is waiting for. Yzerman has really closely tracked the LA Kings rebuild model, and has a full cupboard of solid pros waiting for a spot. So many good defensemen you can move a Wallinder or Buium for the breakout piece you need without sweating how well that guy turns out, ala LAK with Faber.

Names I’m watching over the next 15 months are Nylander, Buchnevich, Hertl, and Draisaitl as the golden goose. Any of those guys shifts this from rebuild to contender window.

If the Oilers miss the playoffs I could see a Draisaitl trade. The Oilers are under achievers.

Kenny would get burned at the stake. He's not gonna get a contract extension unless the team makes the playoffs. I'm not sure the owner will allow Kenny to trade away roster players with term left even if they're out of playoff position at the TDL. That kind of decision should be made by the next GM, not the one leaving. If I'm wrong and that trade happens, I can't even imagine what Drai would go for.

Kenny isn’t making that deal. His contract is over, it’s Jeff Jackson’s show in Edmonton now.

With Holland's seat getting extremely hot and the Oil under performing. Just for fun, do you think Yzerman could swing and make a monster trade with his buddy Kenny for Drai? wings do have a ton of draft capital, prospects, roster players.

With the signing of Kane and DBC this year think it shows the league Yzerman means business this year.

Only off limits is Larkin, Seider, Raymond, DBC, Kane, Compher in books anyways.

Could dangle Maata, Petry lol. Holl, Chairot, Copp, Sprong, Husso, Reimer, Lyon, Cossa, Augustine, Berggren, Wallinder, Aljo, I'd even offer up Edvinsson, firsts you name it

To be clear I know it's not happening just curious if there's anything that could be done.

If a trade for Draisatl became a reality I’d be opening the site with the trade pieces with a shaky hand on the mouse.

A trade and sign would probably rob us of Edvinsson, Danielson, ASP and more. That one would hurt.

None of the pieces you’re dangling except for Edvinsson have significant value as of now. They’d get you over the hump but can’t be central pieces.

Reminder, despite the funny memes the Oilers are only 5 points out of a playoff spot with 61 games remaining. I'd say there's a 99% certainty they make the playoffs, especially when you look at the teams they have to climb over to get there.

I think the only ways Drai gets moved is if he 1. demands a trade or 2. they get an elite goalie in return, like Hellebyuck or Sorokin.

I don't see a Holland deal for Drai without Raymond going back the other way. He can't deal for futures. If they trade Drai for futures, McDavid is gone. At minimum I think you are looking at a Raymond+Edvidsson+Berggren+1st type of package, and I don't know if that is the smart deal for the Wings.

I mean you are looking at a guy that will be 30 at basically the 1st year of his new contract. He is probably going to want 11-12 mil and an 8 year deal. Thats a huge hit for someone that doesn't really have a history without McDavid. Mind you I still think he's a great player, but maybe not as great as playing with or behind McDavid has inflated his numbers to. Plus we have him until 38, and very few players in todays NHL are successful past 35. It's one thing to do it for your hometown guy and take the risk ala a Crosby, another if you haven't even gotten most of that player's prime years.

Then it wouldn't happen which wood be fine. Ed would be a huge loss but for Drai? Keep in mind the oilers depths is none existent, they have zero flexibility, it's been said he looks very unhappy this year. Everyone thought we'd lose our shirt to get DBC to but Yzerman just has a way.
