I'm not interested in bringing him back, but for the sake of argument I am asking what he would bring that we don't already have or what we need?
Big wing just for this playoffs.
Id trade Fabbri+ Kostin + second for Mantha. This way Berggren might have opening for next season
Mantha - Larkin - Raymond
Cat - Compher - Kane
Veleno -Copp- Perron
Rasmussen - Fischer - Sprong

Listening to comments from DRW media and Lalonde, it sounds like the Wings want to stand pat or make only minor moves at the deadline.

Caveat: Yzerman never lets on what he's doing.

In this circumstance, I could kind of understand why he wants to stand pat. I don't think he expected the team to be this good this year. Kasper, Danielson, and Edvinsson may all be on the team next year. With Grand Rapids almost certainly making the playoffs in the AHL, and playing very well, I would be shocked to see Edvinsson called up.

This team will make the playoffs and get first round experience, but they have very little chance of winning the cup. I think acquiring a piece like Hanifin increases their chances of winning at least one round, but Yzerman is a guy who isn't going to change his timetable based on that, especially for a guy who is signaling that he has specific ideas about where he wants to sign.

I don't like it, but I'm preparing myself for disappointment.

I'd say I agree with most of all that

I do not foresee SE in Detroit this year whatsoever unless we completely crap the bed over these next 6 weeks, and in fact, he may not be here in Oct either..

I do not see SY making a depth trade at the TDL nor a pure rental trade...

I can see him however trading for a medium term asset(someone here next 3 to 5 years)...who and at what cost???no clue

agree with basically everything but I think if he can get a young ish player and sign them to an extension to solidify the defense, then I think he goes for it like hanifin.

Hanifin is 27, same age as larkin and dbc, so he fits the window that yzerman has claimed to be for larkin, essentially. Interesting to see what happens.

For the record, I am totally fine with absolutely nothing happening, but if i had a choice it would be ghost and maatta out with hanifin coming in. Even with that, we have 6D including Holl who is has not played terribly at all and can play the bottom pairing or probably be decent with hanifin. Injuries bring up ed and aljo and call it a day.

side note: people are "reporting" that yzerman called in on walker apparently but "doesn't want to get into a bidding war". The only way you know that is if yzerman said it to you and i would bet a lot of money that they did not hear it come out of his mouth. So I take that with a grain of salt too.

What I'm expecting is maybe a depth center with decent faceoff ability for like a 3rd or a 4th. Yzerman will see what the market gives him. We won't be giving up 1sts and prospects for rentals.

I'd like to see him clear out Holl as well. I'd rather have Maata for 1 more year than Holl for 2.

Kane , Veleno, Sprong and Fischer needs to get resigned. Perron and Gost probably will be gone. Berggren and Edvinsson should be with Red Wings. Somehow Holl, Kostin and probably Fabbri should be gone

Mantha is not worth all that! Fabbri>Mantha by himself...

He works in the front office, do you want to bring back Lidstrom, Kronwall, Stevie, Draper, Tanguay, and Horcoff as well? You got a time machine or something?

lets have former 50 goal scorer Mickey Redmond suit up too while we're at it
