I didn't say Stevie would sign him, I said I would, lol. This forum would explode, lol.

He'll probably bounce around.
i know you didn't, I am just trying to put into perspective. I'd also trade walman for a top 6 forward while walman's stock is as high as humanly possible and I got flamed for it.

I don't know why saying walman for kyle connor as a base of a trade is a bad one but whatevs.

Mantha is playing for a contract and whatever good play he showed this year will likely evaporate as soon as some idiot GM signs him. He'll probably break his hand punching someone's helmet again.

Why is any Wings fan here mentioning wanting Mantha? Do we not remember the lazy uninterested Mantha who only gets engaged when angry, which only happens once every 15-20 games where he shows he has the skill to actually be something great? He clearly is one who isn't interested in being a top flight player, and just wants to be ok.

He had a couple seasons in Detroit where he was on pace for 30 goal seasons. He had chemistry with larkin
... no argument hes been complete horseshit in Washington

Some people react badly when they get dealt and never recovers ...if he can be had for a 3rd and say gylander who I think won't sign I'd do it

Would allow kane and debrincat to stick on the 2nd line and make us deeper. I'm not giving up a 1st or 2nd or top prospect

I'm not actively advocating for mantha but I wouldnt be pissed. If it was up to me I'd make moves for berggren and edvinsson to be in the lineup and call it a day

I would consider a ghost trade if return was a 1st and a decent 3rd RHD to fill the holl on Defence
0% chance he fetches a 1st

I must have watched a different Mantha in Detroit than everyone else. In his first 4 full seasons in Detroit, Mantha scored at a 27 goal per 82 game pace and Detroit scored 54% of the goals when he was on the ice at 5 on 5 (despite being on some pretty bad teams). I don't care how lazy you are if you get those results.

The problem was he was lazy defensively. He could score 2 goals a night, but he would allow 3 goals against because he never back-checked or did anything of use in his own zone.

He always had a great shot and I was hoping he would become our franzen because they had the same type of snap, but franzen could at least look like he was trying to defend and use his heavy ass body while mantha was bringing out his inner PLD on defense.

I don't have strong feelings on Mantha, but has Yzerman ever brought back a guy he traded away? I can't think of any off the top of my head, but I could easily be missing a case where this has happened.

At any rate, scoring is no longer a concern. We have scored the 2nd most goals in the Eastern Conference and are only 4 goals behind Toronto (they have a game in hand). What does Mantha add that this team is currently lacking?

that would also be reflected in the 54% stat you quoted though so clearly his offense wasn't getting outweighed like you imply

I don't particularly want him back either because he's gonna be 30 by the time next season starts and I don't think he'll live up to whatever contract he signs but he had some good years here

technically Sam Gagner but only really in a trivia sense

he was only on the Lightning for about a hour since Yzerman flipped him right after acquiring him and when he acquired him years later here he was mostly just a byproduct of the AA trade with the draft picks being the main return

Why would you want Mantha back? He is an injury prone floater...
