Let's say Yzerman trades for Hanifin and gets him to sign an extension. How does the pathway look for Edvinsson or others next year?
edvinsson would take maatta spot because we would probably be trading maatta for hanifin as base.

aljo could definitely make the team because he can play right side, so he can take ghost's spot rather easily.

But of course he's shopping Holl. Who wouldn't?
he's not shopping holl

they are quoting a kaplan article that never says holl's name or any defenseman's name. It only says taking calls on defenseman.

Man, I am getting really tired of resaying this every 30 minutes lmao. I am done saying it lol. If people around here want to listen to everything they read without investigating the initial source then idk what to tell you.

K. Now where do Walman and Chiarot line up?
....we have done this so many times norrisnick but if you want me to say it again why not.

walman - seider
hanifin - aljo
edvinsson - chiarot

ed and chiarot had good chemistry for ed's 9 games (the first 2 were just not feeling each other's play right, then they got it down).
Aljo is considered more than ready and possibly more ready than edvinsson. I've said it multiple times, aljo's floor is very high but edvinsson's ceiling is much higher. Hanifin would be a good stable source for aljo to work with.

I'd be very interested in possible trading walman so that the entire left side could be ed - hani - aljo, but aljo can play the opposite side and has done it multiple times in different leagues (shl, ahl, etc.)

We are not going with five left handed defensemen.
walman
maatta
chiarot
ghost

i mean, might as well just add one more at this point. chiarot and ghost can play their off side perfectly fine. so why cant we have chiarot and aljo play their off side?

100% disagree. But Bertuzzi would be welcome to join on a reasonable deal this summer

Mantha is garbage...i know watching reruns of The Big Bang Theory is great and all, but reruns of lousy hockey players...not so much

Bertuzzi does not fit on this team anymore...next
I have always liked Mantha and would gladly take him back. He is unrestricted after this season.

But I am probably the only poster on this board who likes Mantha.

I liked him half the time/ hated him the other half. If he just engaged he would be a damn good player

I think you may be
I was surprised when his name was mentioned in the game vs capitals. I fell to sleep after 1st so I didn't see him play much. He is on pace for 25 goals. I think he scores 30 on the line with Raymond and Compher. But I strongly doubt Yzerman has any plans to bring his back.

Well, that was Sprong's story until this season. Mantha's been healthy scratched a few times for lack of effort, but Sprong was healthy scratched 7 seasons in a row. I'd sign Mantha for one year if Sprong walks. They're both UFA, and Mantha has more game.

I just think mantha will never come back because not only did yzerman sign mantha to a long term deal, he then traded him like what 2 months later?

I don't see yzerman signing players like this anymore. I get the comparison for sprong, but once you put sprong on the 3rd/4th line, his lack of effort doesn't really show because he is not expected to play 18 minutes a game like he was in washington.

I get the comparison but he did say in his opening press conference when we signed hi that he wanted to make his perceived laziness/lack of effort a think of the past and I think he has done that pretty well.

The thing about the "big frenchman" is that he won't cost much, and you don't need to sign him to an extension. It's kind of intriguing, the idea of him and Raymond together on that second line.

I still prefer Raymond with Larkin, and still not really sure about the DeBrincat-Larkin-Kane line. For me, Larkin gets a little lost with those 2, and when Larkin is lost, he has a tendency to make really dumb mistakes. Maybe it's just me.

I'd like to see Larkin with Raymond and Cat and Kane together.

We need a top 6 winger, and a defenceman with a top 6 center and another goalie as kind of a dream scenario.

But, you also have to be mindful of the chemistry this group has got going right now. Just really fun to watch.

I didn't say Stevie would sign him, I said I would, lol. This forum would explode, lol.

He'll probably bounce around.
