I think it was pretty much a given we were going to kick the tires. Would have to take a steep discount and be a third pairing guy.

Seems at odds with telling Reilly that he'll have a shot to make the team and also that Leo should sit tight. Maybe Fletcher just needs to know his options.

Cup teams have bluelines that rarely make mistakes. Dumba could score 60 points in a season, and it wouldn't matter if he turns the puck over in the neutral zone half a dozen times over a series.

He has already gotten a lot better at not turning the puck over and he is only, what, 21? Another season and he will be fine in that regard.

I generally agree that teams that reach for 1st line players end up with a less than advertised result or opening up another hole elsewhere. And the Wild ate dangerously close to doing that.

However, Cup teams do make moves that work out amazingly and the Wild is only 1 or 2 good players from winning it all.
Just a 1st line RW (Pominville/Nino?) and 20 goal center away if Dubnyk re-signs IMO.
Mika Zibanejad got 2 X 2.625M

I dont see how/why Granlund should get more.
Zibanejad is better than Granlund and I think $2.635m is a steal for him. I think with that Granlund should get roughly $2.5-2.7m.
He's not a sexy player, for sure. To me, he's a bottom sixer, and easily replaceable. Hope he proves me wrong this year.
I don't think so. I think he's the best offensive 4th liner in the NHL and it shows in his p/60 and with his ability to play on lines 1-3 in a pinch.
It was super sheltered, and finally rewarded with some key offensive opportunities where he shone extra bright. Excellent utilization, but he's not ready for top-4 duty yet.
Disagree. I think he should be on the top PP unit along with Scandella/Brodin at the point. I think he's ready for top 4 minutes too. You can't shelter your rookies their whole life. Sometimes you gotta throw them to the wolves and see if they survive.

Six turnovers in a series isn't that much... 60 point Dumba would be well worth it.

Oh man. It'd have to be less than $2m or we definitely have to clear cap.

It's good to keep options open. I don't think a Reilly-Dumba pairing would be the smartest thing in the world when it comes to defense.

Dumba is 20 so even younger than you think. I think he's become a lot better at creating and not giving up turnovers. Still think we should do this:

Suter-Folin
Brodin-Dumba
Scandella-Spurgeon

All play roughly 20 minutes a night. I don't think it'd be a problem and we'd have 1A/1B/1C pairings.

The Grass is always greener I guess.

They have pretty much identical numbers. Where there is a difference, Granlund has the better numbers (5v5 P/60 for instance).

Sign Martin and trade Suter for RNH. :sarcasm:

I kind of like Leo, but he's clearly a #7.

I wish Yeo would just be comfort putting Suter, Brodin, Scandella, Spurgeon, Dumba AND Folin all in the line-up. I haven't heard a compelling argument why during the regular season it's a bad idea to limit the minutes of Suter or put Brodin on the left side through the first 2 periods. You can always shorten the bench and shift Brodin back to the top pairing in the 3rd.

Maybe them we would get some better development of our young players and also keep our vets fresh for the playoffs so they don't burn out.

I know it's supposed to be his "natural" side, but when was the last time that Brodin as consistently played LD? Never in NHL, he played RD with Klefbom in the WJC, I'm guessing he did the same in the SEL.

Trade Vanek + Pominville + 1st to AZ, acquire 3 OA, draft a rockstar.

Vanek and Pominville might just waive their NTC if they can go to the same team. We'll free up metric ****ton of cap, can sign Stewart, potentially Martin and move young players up the forward depth chart.

Arizona could do it, because they feel they need to put butts on seats and those two have potential to shine in a larger role and on the same line.

Obviously, it's a long shot, but hey, a man can dream, right?

Again, why is this a bad thing? It's not going to make him worse at playing on the right. If anything, it would just make him that much better.

I'm not saying it's bad, but players have their comfort levels. Brodin has shown no evidence of wanting to leave the right side, so I think it's a bit presumptuous to just pencil him in there.

Maybe it was just a necessity thing way back when and he'd be fine switching now. I have no idea.

Again Vanek is not going to waive his NTC he took a lot less money to come to Minnesota, if he does waive for some reason it certainly wont be to go to Arizona!

goals>assists that's why I think Z is better than G. Not to mention he's a bit bigger and stronger.

Arizona wouldn't even consider that not to mention it hurts our team a lot next year.

I don't think Pominville and Vanek have to "waive" anything, they agreed to "trade windows" in their contracts if im not mistaken.

Trading away the players who are 2 and 3 in points for an unproven prospect would be crazy.

Who outside of Zucker and Nino deserve to move up the line up?I would like to see more consistent play from Nino before he is a permanent top 6 option,Zucker has earned a prolonged shot at a top line place.

One of the biggest problems in the last few years was moving young guys,Granlund,Coyle,Kuemper and Haula,up in the line up and into positions they were not ready to fill and had not really earned.

He won't get it with Parise here.

I meant in the top 6 either on the first line playing the right side or on the second line on the left.

He's not a right wing. I think both the Parise and Koivu lines are 1A/1B so I guess he'd get "1st line minutes".

Hey guys, i'm finally back. What a brutal never-ending offseason for us Wild fans.

Who should I be excited about tomorrow that might fall in our hands?
Last year for me it was Fiala, Larkin, Milano, Pastrnak, Fabbri, etc.

Gimme some names!
If Konecny doesn't drop to us, I want to trade down.
