When I see some of the traded players and some of the prices, it is clear to me that Chevy is not all in. Bjugstad AND Cam Dineen for a 3rd? 50% retention on Bjugstad?

We were capable of making a better offer for Meier. I understand not doing so since he would have been a pure rental - but with a year of UFA, we could have recovered some of the cost after the season.

We were capable of making a better offer for Chychrun. He is under contract for 2 more years on a team friendly deal. Maybe durability was a determining factor, but if Chevy was all in that wouldn't have stopped him.

Neither bragging nor complaining at this point. Just how it looks to me.
And thank goodness - Chevy shouldn't be all in this year.

I think Chevy has one more rabbit to pull outta the hat. A trade that will come out of no where.

Sure, could still happen. I would like to get schmaltz.

But we could have used Bjugstad and he went to Edm for practically nothing. Does not look like Chevy is trying very hard. Maybe we get another 3rd liner for a late pick.

Can't judge a trade deadline until everything is said and done. Chevy is low on draft capital for trades, and I really don't think he wants to put his 1st round picks in play this year or next, considering the uncertainty going into next season. The exception would be a good young player with term. Right now he is likely on the phone with some fellow GM, trying to convince them that Stanley still hold the value of his draft position.

So you are agreeing with me. He is not ALL IN or 1sts would be on the table. Chychrun was that good young player with term.

Getting Bjugstand for a 3rd is an easy trade to make. I think Chevy is trying to work on something much more difficult. Making trades for players with term that will help the team now and in the future.

If there are no tangible results from Chevy in trying to improve the team may very well result in one or both of Hellybuyck and Scheifele deciding not to re-sign with the team. Remember Connor said he would be open to extending if the team attempts to remain competitive. Not improving an average team sure doesn't send a positive message to the players.

Guess we will find out in the 24 hours.

2 years term. Next season he would be in the same position PLD, Scheifele and Helly are in this season. Ottawa won out because Arizona wanted the best 2023 1st round pick as possible.

There is no doubt that Chevy is going to make some type of move. He basically has no choice other teams relatively in the same position are making several moves. No playoffs this year will just send a clear message to several of our stars including helly.

Chychrun was never an option here. Why do some of you think he was. It's obvious he wasn't. Arizona didn't want money back so how do the Jets trade for Chychrun if they don't want one of our current 8 d on the roster

Some of you need to get over yourselves and understand that we have no clue what Is or isn't going on with the Jets. There are very little leaks from them, ppl talking like Chevy didn't do anything guess forget he was the first west gm to make a good value trade (nieddereitter)

Chychrun lol, ppl are seriously over rating him. Dudes a big question mark.. my guess is he's exposed in the quicker paced East.

Agreed. Maybe Sandheim who is set to start a 8 year $6.25 M deal. That I’d be behind.

JMO, but I think Sanheim is the better player. His new contract is still 500k less. The contract he is playing under this year will fit under the cap. And he is a LHS who has played the right side quite a lot and successfully.

Because the Jets 23 man roster has $4,634,382 in deadline cap space & Chychrun has a $4.6 million AAC contract...

And that's before they'd have sent Fjalby back to the minors to gain another $750,000 in deadline space.

Sanheim IMO would almost be the perfect add for Chevy. I'm just not sure of how steep a price it would be?

A lot of people also overlook the fact that many players, who would be good additions to our team and easily within Chevy's algorithm, also have clauses that allow them to refuse any trade to Winnipeg.

Which is still not going all in.

I prefer that myself, in the long run, but it may not be enough to enable a deep run this year.
