Mckeown and a 1st for Sekera just doesn't sit well with me. I can't get over it. It was the stupidest trade that is crippling us right now to give up some assets for another playoff run. What if this is our last year to win a Cup with the current lineup since cap space is going to be limited moving forward and we don't have much picks or prospects and the future doesn't look so bright anymore. Chicago just went all out and can beat us leaving us with bitter taste knowing it's only going to get harder from here. I don't see this team beating the Hawks. We didn't even make the playoffs with Sekera, Dean reached way to much with that move knowing there wouldn't be cap space. I love Dean he has done wonders for this team but the Sekera deal haunts me. Mckeown looks very promising and we could have used our 1st this year whether to trade for Ladd or pick a player in this years draft.
There it is. The obligatory trade Martinez post.
I think you're completely overreacting. I agree that McKeown and a 1st as assets may have helped us acquire Ladd or someone else, but I think most of us should be willing to let the dust clear before we rush to judgment seeing as the deadline is not today so pretending we're done or just sitting on our thumbs while teams around us get better is just creating reasons to be outraged.
I must be one of the only ones who doesn't think those Chicago moves are anything special. Ladd is a nice piece, and Fleischmann and Weise are nice depth, but neither of those guys strike me as "OMG Chicago got WHO?!?", and I'm gonna post the price again because I think it's important for perspective--Chicago gave up the equivalent of Kempe, Forbort, a 1st, and 2 seconds for three rentals. Would we be okay doing that?
Honestly this is starting to sound like damned if he does, damned if he doesn't for DL with a bunch of posters here.
Big trade - I can't believe Dean is wasting MORE picks and MORE prospects!
Minor trade - Dean, you've got a banana peel on your head.
No trade - Way to go Dean, wasting prime Kopitar/Doughty/Quick years.
He's ****ed any way.

Also to be dumped:LA has done what it can imho. I'd rather not throw more garbage into the mix. If anything, move out Brown if even a tiny bit possible.
Also to be dumped:
Add Lewis (stone hands), Clifford (lack of hockey sense), one of either Nolan/Andreoff (redundand average roster players) and trade McNabb and a guy like Forbort to acquire a semi decent defensman...
Have I mentioned how much I hate Voynov recently? He left a hole we cannot seem to fill
All I'm gonna post regarding it.
you make less than zero sense. All of those players if magically dumped would have to be replaced. And by whom? Also to be dumped:

Brown and Lewis would have trouble scoring on a blind hooker and with what TOI they get, their incompetence makes the Kings bottom 6 about as useful as a boat in Sahara desert.Would still love you or anyone else to prove to me why our bottom sixers are such a problem.
I've provided across a number of threads eye test reasons and statistical proof why any of those guys are better than most of their counterparts across the NHL, but no one complaining about them can suggest anything otherwise. Yes, we wish Brown and Lewis would score more, that's about it; not that production ISNT a concern, but if you're keeping the puck in the other end for more than 2/3 of your time on the ice and literally more than anyone else in the NHL, I'd argue you're fulfilling your role just fine.
