Purcell will be fine as long as he's given decent linemates.

Schultz will be fine as long as you limit his minutes. Severely.

What can you guys tell me about Kurtis MacDermid?

MacDermid has been one of the biggest surprises this year.
He's big and nasty and a big hitter...you can see a few players that
he's knocked out of action the last couple of years. His junior career
ended well...but he was not expected to crack the Reign's lineup...he
has and has done well. Played on Erie Otters with Connor McDavid last year and
had 40 points and led them in PIM

see a recent story about him here:

He's #1 in plus minus and PIM on the Reign, despite only 37 games.

Honestly think Schultz could turn it around, Purcell is meh. I still dislike the Scuderi trade.

For visual reference:

Thanks! Schultz was a monster at U of Wis and led the team in scoring once...outscored Mersch there the 2 years they both played there...and of
course, was highly sought after when he didnt sign in Anaheim...maybe the
Kings can get him where he needs to be. But in the last month push is not the
best time for that. Still, he's better than McBain and he's right handed as well.

I hope I end up eating crow, but if they end up doing this trade with Edmonton this team might as well start rebuilding. Simply terrible.

“@mayorNHL: Told #LAKings #Oilers are close on Schultz/Purcell. Deal will likely be for 2 prospects (expecting Jake Marchment to be one of them).â€

Charts aside, because that shows they 'fit', Purcell is soffffft. I think there are worse moves, but as a depth forward, whatever. I just think he's the epitome of the problems I was talking about yesterday with another poster--yes, Purcell is likely more productive than Lewis, but that production will come at a cost of tenacity, systems play, and so on.

J Schultz is also a longer-term project imo and his issues are more like the bad version of Muzzin/McNabb combined, offensive/defensive brain farts.

He seems to have hit the ground running in Ontario and there's a good deal of buzz around him just playing hard every night. He's a presence, that's for sure, and in seeing him live, he's just a frigging hammer out there. Some questionable decisions but he's acclimating quickly and seems to get stronger every game. I think he's going to be a bottom-pairing gem--an old school guy who can wreck faces (Matt Greene) but new school in that he can move the puck and think offensively too.

Goes on to say LA likes his offensive skillset and thinks they can help him with defense.

Welp. Looks like this is a thing.

How long will it take us to unteach them everything they learned on the Oilers?

If there's one team that can turn Schultz's hype into realty, it's the Kings. Excited to see what Stevens does with him.

Reimer to SJ, great idea on their part. No mo Stalock, who has been literally the worst goaltender in the league in his action this year.

John Carlson out for 3-4 weeks. Where's the pre-emptive "Washington are cheaters!" thread?

Gaborik wasn't a "Sutter Guy" either supposedly.

Team needs skill with Gaborik out. No issue with Purcell for cheap.

While he may be soft, he's performed in the playoffs and not just the 1st round either.

Purcell acquisition won't hurt my feelings at all, just pointing out the tradeoff.

And compared to the compensation for Weise and Fleischmann, I'm sure it'll be a steal.

Didn't Purcell play on Vinny's wing in TB for a long time? That'd be a pretty solid third line.

King - Lecavalier - Purcell
