Maybe in the offseason. But getting rid of Lewis, Brown, or Clifford when they're going for 3? For better or worse, that's not Lombardi.
Lewis is a death weight. Cannot play center because he sucks at faceoffs. As a winger he doesn't play physical or block shoots to be a defensive specimen, offensively he is a pylon with speed and cement hands.
Brown consistently fails to get the puck deep, has lost all of his offensive zone passing abilities, can't shoot properly or be relied on in the defensive zone. And he has been committing too many penalties...
Clifford has 0 hockey sense, 0 offensive abilities and is extremely rarely providing the sparkness (forecheck, hitting) for the last couple of years..

You aren't going to see guys that don't fall into that should score area until we get a new coach. Which I don't see happening for awhile.
Heck even our top line guys(Kopi,Carter, Toffoli) are all really guys that should score.
Our system is defense first and take what offense you can get.
And because of the cap you must fill your roster with guys that give potential. Or fit whatever system you play.

Agree, which is why everyone loves Vinny even though his fancy stats aren't good and he can't play defense.

When the puck is on his stick in the offensive zone, he makes plays. That is something the Kings haven't had in the Bottom 6 for what seems like a long time.

Nah, not a wishful thinking at all. I just think that he'd rather be remembered for hoisting the cup in his final year, rather than being buried down in Ontario, just collecting a big check.

And speaking of his family, you know they're out in the east coast correct?

Yes I do, hence the comment that the money is for his family so he can suck up one more year for long-term gain.

It is entirely wishful thinking when you don't know an individual and believe they will walk away from large sums of money because it usually doesn't happen that way.

This is Rob Scuderi and not #1 overall pick superstar Vinny we are talking about: don't think Scuderi gives a **** about how he is remembered because he'll barely be remembered anyways.

Keep getting them checks, man.

Time will tell.

ATD. But yeah, time will tell.

Scuds has already racked up millions playing in the nhl. Chances are 3.3M isn't going to mean as much to him as it does to posters on here, who probably don't have Scuds type of money.

Is that so far fetched?

The implication that it doesn't mean much to him is far fetched or he would of retired already since he has been an AHL defenseman.

$3.3MM to me means a lot more, yes, but $3.3MM to Scuderi isn't like $25K because he's already made money.

Like I said, he probably wanted another chance to hoist the cup for one final time.

And no, 3.3M to Scuds isn't 25K, but maybe 250K.

I think he'll be ok. I don't see Scuds as someone who's financially irresponsible like an NBA player, spending all his earnings on a pimped out cars and partying it up.

I can't imagine any team not lining up to help the Kings out with those glowing reviews. If you don't want them that badly for free, why would someone who gets paid to get players want them?

I'm just saying don't hold your breath until Monday. Lewis may very well walk/have to go this summer. Clifford also might go. Nolan too. Brown, if he's as bad as you say, you might be able to get rid of his contract if you included Doughty at 50%. That one will be a little more tricky. King might go too, who knows.

Rich people stay rich by not paying for anything and not walking away from easy money.

I'm willing to bet that $3.3MM to Scuderi is $3.3MM.

I'm sure LA, CHI and PIT hope you are right.

I hope Purcell is not in Deans plans, he does not fit anywhere. He sucks . Dean will go big because he knows after the price he paid for Lucic he has to win a Cup this year. Right now we have 2.1 in cap space with Gabs on LTIR that figure goes up to 6.8

Eric Staal anyone ? After Chicago added Ladd they look scary good and have a great chance to repeat. Dean has to do something. Once Gaborik comes back in playoffs when cap doesn't matter we will have

Staal-Kopitar-Gaborik
Lucic-Carter-Toffoli
Pearson-Lecavalier-Brown
King-Shore-Lewis

Don't hate the kid, but his lack of scoring and garbage +/- can toss that fancy stat **** in a bag and hit it with a hammer, and I'm not even an anti-analytics guy.

Just getting a little tired of anything that reflects poorly on a Kings player leading to some fancy stat response...nothing directed at you.

I want guys that can score every once in awhile as opposed to icing guys that should score because an equation says so.

he has 4 points less than Lewis with 1 more game played, and hes on 4th line duty. Its a bit disingenuous to call him a disaster.... thats all Im saying. critique the guy all you want but at least be fair about it. Nolan on the other hand has been a disaster

Fair point, although any comparison made to Lewis for point production holds no weight.

My point about advanced stats was, again, a general observation of the board and not a case of calling you out.

I think Lombardi has to go all in but he's short on assets

I've read they don't want to. They want to hold onto their top prospects and picks, 5 year window, want to start re-stockpiling with young talent.

They're reluctant to give up a top prospect/high pick for a rental after last years Fiasco with Sekera.

I think if Staal gets moved he joins brother Marc in New York.

In 5 years their window may be closed

Yeah that's what I said. Rob Blake said 5 year window, which is why they NEED to keep their picks and prospects at this point and not overpay for a rental, a player on term is different, but not feasible right now.

They need to go all in now while the window is open..I figured they would after trading for Lucic.

The hole in defense was created with the loss of Voynov...and it took months to replace him with Sekera, which was an adequate replacement...but lost him and
Regehr after the season. Too tough to replace those 2. Sekera was just looking good, when he came down with injury.

And so Sekera and Regehr were replaced with McBain and Ehrhoff? Horrible.

The Lucic trade was ok, but losing the #13 overall pick AND Martin Jones was steep,
especially since Lucic was entering final contract yr. Could have drafted Kyle Conner
(who is tearing it up at U of Mich with 53 pts in 29 gms as a freshman) and had Jones to trade for a great return for him alone...and keeping him away from the Sharks. Not saying I hate the Lucic trade, but if he doesn't sign, too costly.

DL now has to sign Lucic and get either a top 6 forward or top 4 defenseman, it seems...and has limited assets. The system has been producing, but Mersch, Gravel, Forbort , Kempe not really ready to make impact. Shore and Andreoff are marginal pros. Needed a bonus like Zykov emerging faster, or a Clifford / Lewis to get to a higher level.

Hope Kempe is not dealt. The only real offensive talent with high upside in the system. It seems to get a top 6 forward or top 4 defenseman will cost a decent roster player like King + prospect or even McNabb + prospect? Who would want Andreoff, Shore, Nolan or even Zykov, for a top 6 forward or top 4 D? Is Clifford really worth much? Lewis is meh and will be an UFA. Forbort and Gravel have value.
Would keep Gravel over Forbort. Would prefer to keep Mersch, but would trade him in the right deal.

Um... I'd rather make the playoffs with Lucic then have some picks/prospects and watch Williams/Brown leading the way to missing the playoffs.

We have a window of I think five years, probably, if you look at our core with [Anze] Kopitar, [Drew] Doughty, [Jonathan] Quick and [Jeff] Carter, so it's about adding the right piece," Blake said. "Cap-wise, we're obviously tight against it going forward, but we have a little wiggle room this year so it'll have to be a UFA. But I don't think [general manager] Dean [Lombardi] is willing to move high-end picks anymore. We don't have a first this year and we do have to restock a little in the minors.

Blake said the Kings are reluctant to part with a high draft pick after trading their first-round pick last year for defenseman Andrej Sekera only to miss the Stanley Cup Playoffs and watch him sign with the Edmonton Oilers.
