Salaries in the minors don't count against the cap.
If under 950K you are correct. But over that and you suffer whatever the difference is.

You get 950K credit on any player in the minors if they make more than that. So he would cost the team 175K to have him buried next year.
Anyone have any idea which F the Kings could realistically target that could actually have a significant impact? I don't think Purcell is it.. Who else is out there? Eriksson? Seems like a player that could thrive here.. And the Kings and Bruins have done deals in the past. Not sure what it would cost though, at least a first round pick I would assume, plus a prospect.
It's amazing that people are already forgetting how bad Ehrhoff was. Guy was rubbish.
So people are upset over $175k of cap space? Seems like a very low risk move just like the VL/Schenn trade.

If you believe he is worse than current Kings options then, yes, there is slight discomfort with the deal.
I think he is done and Schultz (Reign) is better now. I get playoff depth but I feel Chicago benefits the most out of this. Due to that, this trade sucks.
Hope I'm proven wrong. I'm not even "upset", just annoyed.

this is my thought. It's not bad enough that I am screaming mad...I just am shaking my head. Rather have Ehrhoff off the books at the end of the year than scuderi even at his low hit

I guess I'll wait to see him play before I make a call on it. The same things were said about VL and to a lesser extent, Schenn. VL has been light years beyond what anyone thought he was capable of.
Scuderi was once capable of being a good stay at home defenseman. That's not really true of any of the guys in the 6 or 7 spots. Schultz was awful when he was up with LA the last time (not sure if it was this regular season or preseason).
Did you read the posts that mentioned that it would cost us 175K to bury Scuds in Ontario? Not too much is it?
Besides, my money's on Scuds retiring at the end of this season.
If he was thinking about it because the AHL sucks, it doesn't suck as much when you don't play a full season and only leave California like 3 times the entire year.
last I checked Shore was leading the team in Corsi %, he hasnt been a dynamo but hes hardly been a disaster
I don't think Scuds would want to spend his final professional career down in the minors.
Hope Scuds get to hoist the cup for the final time, and skate off to retirement.
The Kings should seriously consider shopping Lewis, Brown, Zykov, Forbort, McNabb and Clifford.
It was a nice ride with them, it's time to improve the roster or get futures for them...
$3.3MM or whatever says to me "Enjoy Ontario".
I don't think 3.3M means as much to Scuds, as it does to you.
Don't hate the kid, but his lack of scoring and garbage +/- can toss that fancy stat **** in a bag and hit it with a hammer, and I'm not even an anti-analytics guy.
Just getting a little tired of anything that reflects poorly on a Kings player leading to some fancy stat response...nothing directed at you.
I want guys that can score every once in awhile as opposed to icing guys that should score because an equation says so.
I think that's wishful thinking on your part while I'm based in the reality that it does mean something to a guy who will never make that much money ever again.
Only thing is his family not being close but, at the same time, we are talking $3MM+ pre-tax that will go towards his family.
