Maybe Scuderi is part of the package to get Purcell and Schultz.
I'd be thrilled to get Scuderi back.
EDIT: I'm thrilled to get Scuderi back.
Blackhawks get Andrew Ladd back.
Kings get Rob Scuderi back.
Well done, Dean.

Who's Scuderi even going to play with? Can't play with Schenn. Martinez? But then that leaves McNabb with Schenn.
McNabb isn't a top4 defensman on a cup contender...I think (hope) he's just insurance:
Muzzin-Doughty
McNabb-TRADE
Martinez-Schenn
---
Scuderi-McBain
Perhaps Forbort/Gravel to be part of a package moved for RD?

Yeah, because Schenn-McNabb getting caught on the ice in the playoffs vs Ducks/Blackhawks sounds great...martinez is though...switch the two of them in that poster's pairings
you must own his jersey or something

Heh... no. He's a slight upgrade over Ehrhoff, and a big upgrade in the hockey smarts department... he knows how to take a 5 minute major to win a Cup. Every army needs a couple of criminals.

Maybe adding Scuderi back permits Doughty to do what he does best when he no longer has to babysit for Brayden McNabb?
If Scuderi can play around 17 or so minutes of dependable hockey with Drew, he'll be doing his job.
Scuderi-Doughty
Muzzin-Schenn
McNabb-Martinez
That gives every pairing a puck rusher and a stay-at-home guy. In certain even strength situations, I'm sure Doughty will see shifts with other partners as well, mostly Muzzin. You know Doughty will be getting his 25-30+ minutes. Muzzin will be logging up to 25 or so minutes. Martinez and Schenn will be hitting about 20 minutes, and Scuderi and McNabb will be seeing 17 or less minutes.
McBain drops back down to being a 7th guy, and who knows, maybe Dean is still in the hunt for another big minute eating defenseman?
These deals (scuderi, potential purcell) make sense if you read into what's been said about Kings being reluctant to trade high picks for rentals following the Sekera fiasco last year, and they obviously don't want to give up Kempe, Mersch, Zykov (?) for rentals either.
Blake acknowledged they see a 5 year window left with this team and need to start stockpiling more prospects during this time.
He also knows the system. He doesn't need to be trained.
Scuderi was a healthy scratch for his past two teams. Now he's going to handle top pairing minutes vs the likes of Kane/Getzlaf/Perry/Seguin/Benn?Maybe adding Scuderi back permits Doughty to do what he does best when he no longer has to babysit for Brayden McNabb?
