Not really interested in moving Stepan for either of those guys. Stepan is young, good defensively and will improve. Staal is a couple years older, better defensively, worse offensively right now. Don't see the need. Kesler is too old. Totally lateral.

He was young last year , now is young this year . Truth is , he's not good enough .

What? He was clearly YOUNGER last year. He's a young hockey player. Not good enough for what? He's not a 1C, clearly. Neither is Kesler. Why trade for a 30 year old when your 23 year old puts up more/same points.

Stepan needs to hit the weight room. He has the smarts to be great, but his athleticism is well below average.

Agreed, Stepan has a tendency to glide instead of getting his nose dirty. Don't like that about his game at all. He's no Jagr without the puck, he needs to increase his physical presence on the ice tenfold.

Color me shocked that anyone would trade for Robidas after that horrific injury.

He's skating. He'll be back in the lineup mid-March. Pretty sure they got a medical evaluation prior to the trade.

I know, but still, would you take that risk? This isn't a 22 year old, this guy is 37.

I mean a 4th rounder is nothing to scoff at. Why wouldn't the Ducks go after someone healthier....just seems odd. Maybe someone can clear it up.

I assume their plan is for him to sit on the bench anyway, just as depth.

They want to win. Robidas for a 4th is a risk worth taking. They're win now. A 4th that would be 3-5 years away is something they can afford to lose. If Robidas ends up contributing it's a steal and he helps them fill a need. They don't plan got him to sit. They've already said as soon as he's ready he's pairing with Beauchemin.

Because a 4th rounder IS something to scoff at.

Anaheim can do this because they have a deep farm system, good young defensemen and a raft of draft picks. Some of which may be on the move in the next 24 hours.
