Dubas hates the words “team”, “franchise”, and “organization,” so he replaced them all collectively with “program,” apparentlyWhat is this "program" they keep mentioning?

It’s like a plan but more vague. What is this "program" they keep mentioning?
He’s a really smart player. He doesn’t have scoring touch to save his life, but he’s a pretty responsible player defensively. I can see why a team would want him if they’re not having issues scoring goals. That Glass deal is bizarre, no idea why New Jersey is doing that. It doesn't seem like Stillman and Graham are super highly regarded prospects, but why are you trading 2 prospects and a 3rd for Cody freaking Glass
Cuz this league is fanatical about safe players that you know exactly what you're getting every time they hop over the boards. We all bitch about Sullivan's weirdness but he's just a symptom of a bigger issue league wide. That Glass deal is bizarre, no idea why New Jersey is doing that. Let's see what the Penguins actually do this summer.
The big thing I have with Rakell is like.. he's not that player. He's having a career year. You get a 1st for him, you take the Rangers 1st and you can actually get a player that helps the team moving forward.
This is the same mindset I had with Chychrun, Walman, etc.
Get pieces that help now and retain value given their age.
Don't commit to 30+ year olds. EK65 was a unicorn in that regard, because based on name value he will always retain value.
If you have 3 1sts and an additional piece, maybe you can actually pull a Peterka at the draft. McGroarty + 2 1sts probably gets that done. Plus you're pulling a top 5 guy.
Instead you don't really have anything to bring in an actual game changer.
Also, moving Rakell pushes us closer to actually get in the top 5 this draft.

I actually don't disagree with a lot of that. At least in principle. I myself was pretty down on Raks this past year so I definitely don't think he's THE guy.
But he can be A guy. He was great with Malkin early in the year, too. Until well... you know.
But I mean I get it. I understand why people would be peeved at this outcome.
Just you wait until they move Sid to Geno's wing, buddy. Then you'll have your day in the sun.I actually don't disagree with a lot of that. At least in principle. I myself was pretty down on Raks this past year so I definitely don't think he's THE guy.

That doesn't explain why you trade a 3rd plus a 21 and 20 year old F prospect for that![]()
Well his number one move should be firing Sullivan if he wants to compete as quickly as possible…since he doesn’t look like he has any plans to do that, I take everything he says along those lines with a grain of salt lolIf Dubas wants this team to be competitive quick, you have to sell off every piece that is over 30.
You can't sign pieces that are over 30.
Keep Sid, Malkin, and EK. Letang if he wants to stay. Then everything else you just jettison for 1sts.
This is how you get back to contention.
Yeah, I think EK's a foregone conclusion. And while I'd like both of Rust and Rakell dealt, and think you could snag a nice return for each, I'd be happy if Dubas waited for the smoke to clear on like day three of FA to fleece some team that missed out on Boeser or whatever.I'm pretty pleased overall. Big fan of each trade, even giving a pick for Dewar/Timmins is fine. We need warm bodies for the stretch run so the kids can play meaningful hockey in Wilkes. Getting two 2nds and a 4th for Beau and Schenn was massive.
Only complaints are the trades they didn't make, but we'll never know what the actual offers were.
I'm not surprised the market wasn't huge for Grzelcyk. Small, softer defensemen do not carry value for contenders, even if they put up points. You see it year after year with Gothisbehere/Gustafsson/etc.
I do think they move one of Rust and Rakell and definitely Karlsson in the offseason based on Dubas' comments.
Just you wait until they move Sid to Geno's wing, buddy. Then you'll have your day in the sun.
Pardon me while I roll another joint.
You're always lamenting Geno getting scraps and preferential treatment of Sid. I'm jokingly suggesting they're gonna move Sid to Geno's wing to help Geno out, and you'll be able to celebrate a win. Then I joked about getting more high.Huh?
Someone should have asked him about offer sheets…he should make some bold moves along these lines this summer if he wants to secure real good young talent, but he has seemed incredibly cowardly in his time here so far and I don’t see him making those wavesDubas seemed to really stress that he doesnt intend to just spend all the picks this summer in order to push the timeline forward. They'll make value trades for young players if they can.
Honestly I have a tough time figuring out what Dubas' "plan" is because his actions speak differently than his words. His words suggests he wants to make this a quick turnaround with getting prospects and young NHLers to support Crosby and make the team competitive again before Crosby retires. His actions suggest that it's going to be a legit drawn out rebuild because he's acquiring significantly more draft picks than prospects and young NHLers.
Since July 1st, the Penguins have acquired 1 young NHLer that would fall under "building for the future" (Tomasino), 1 legit prospect (Fernstrom) and 12 draft picks. That doesn't look like what Dubas is suggesting he wants to do, that looks like a full scale rebuild. Maybe he'll make moves in the future that suggests they're looking for a quicker turnaround, but so far he absolutely hasn't.
It's a "rebuild" in all but name. I really think this whole "staying competitive" thing is just him trying to trick both the fans and the team into not realizing he's just rebuilding.

It's not fun when I have to explain the joke BW.![]()
Speak for yourself. I happen to enjoy watching elite players learn to play the right way.I dunno man. Seems dumb. After the EK situation, I'm not even gonna get stoked to watch an exceptionally talented guy come here. We know how that movie ends.
