People who are holding out this unreal belief that they Sabres are going to get some super stud in the first round because it’s three rounds deep of hall of famers are in for a very very rude wake up call.

Theyre going to draft a player with a chance to be an NHL player who won’t be in the league until 2026. That’s what you’re hanging on to.

And it is incredibly likely it will have to be another forward unless they get very lucky or reach very far.

youve heard people say it’s a great draft and never looked into why that’s being said. Then everyone just keeps saying it and now everyone believes it’s true.

It’s going to be a long summer if this is the thing you are banking on
You dont know That . Kulich Will be in NHL next season after 1 season from being drafted .

This has been one of the busiest weeks i can ever remember concerning trades - which is surely going to lead to one of the most boring deadline days. At least the TV crews have a lot of material to discuss.

Welp. Let's see if Adams can prove most of us wrong and make a few moves to help this squad down the stretch. I'm not holding my breath, but as my man Argorn said "Dubi, son of Dubi Sr., there is always hope"

Get an NHLer. Someone that has a spot on the team going forward. No maybes, no retreats and no bounce back candidates. Someone you can bank on to do his job and help the team from day one.

Portillo was "recommended" to sign somewhere else by his agent,..said so himself

If Adams thinks they are going to make the playoffs with Dahlin and Tuch out with no additions to at least help till especially Dahlin comes back then he delusional and to be honest iam worried about this team in the future with Adams as GM
It is not a simple binary that they make a certain trade and they make the playoffs and if they have a lower level of moves and they miss.

Even after the two latest losses without Dahlin & Tuch, they are still WC2 by point%.

No he won’t.

People…what in the world do you think this team looks like next year.

Because some of you are so far off that you’ve twisted yourself into a fantasy land.

The opportunity to capitalize on Over 78 million in accrued cap space vanishes in less than 7 hours. 0 salary retention spots used.

Keep giving Adams credit for be willing to do things. It only gets funnier.

BUFFALO SABRES

Status:
Soft buyer

Deadline Cap Space: $77,650,455

Draft Picks

Team Needs: Defence depth, centre depth

Potentially Available: One of their three second-round picks

From 32 Thoughts, The Podcast: "Kevyn Adams wants to stick to the plan, and I think it's the right play, however that doesn't mean you can't look to make small moves, like a tiny move, a mid- to late-round draft pick for a player you can plug into a hole or can help you. As we talked about, they're 32nd in the league in faceoffs. Can you find a centre that can help you with that?"

Outlook: By points percentage, the Buffalo Sabres are eighth in the Eastern Conference, so a playoff spot is very much in the cards. And with all the cap room they could ask for, it might be attractive to make a push for the franchise's first post-season appearance since 2011. But under Adams, the Sabres have been exceedingly patient with everything, and there's no reason to believe they'll act any other way now. Yes, Buffalo may add something to give the dressing room support, but the bigger payoff is still coming.

We barely have any defensive or archetypal 'bottom 6' forwards on the way. Which is what we need.

You can make an arguement for Ryan Johnson - but he's a question mark & there's no guarantee a guy who has never played professionally can walk into the NHL & perform immediately - even if he signs a contract at all.

I do find it interesting that much of the chatter from the "experts" say Adams is making the right choice by sticking to his plan and not spending at the deadline. I'm not sure I completely agree with it, but it does seem to be the feeling outside of Buffalo even among other fan bases judging by the comments on the general forum.

In looking at many of the moves made, I'm definitely happy they didn't spend the assets for most of the players moved so far. The Chychrun move was annoying, and maybe Schenn given the low returns but most of the players moved really weren't interesting or were way too expensive. I'd still like to see a better move than Stillman, and I'll be disappointed, but I'll also understand.

I think the offseason with so many teams loading up does present some potential opportunities to get some players for cheap though. Boston for example might be ripe for picking up a Dman for below market value.

Probably pretty similar. There will be some changes in the bottom 6 and hopefully a bottom 4 defenseman. We'll see Kulich get a cup of coffee but the first half of the season probably looks similar to this one with some youth replacing okie and maybe Girgs and some strength and confidence added to the rookies.
