But wouldn't you agree that adding a core piece like Chychrun without giving up his first round midgets would be a no banner instead of paying through the teeth in trade or free agency which I can only speak for myself Adams has shown zero ability to sign someone in off season. As far as impatient that's the wrong word for this fan base.Iam not even upset anymore just disgusted and quite frankly worried at this point with Adams at the helm.

No, i am firm believer that this team is too young and not ready for an add like Chychrun at the expense of first round picks.

If he were signed for at least another year or two, then sure, I think that it would be a decent move, but as it stands, he will be UFA in two years, and the Sabres won't enter their contending window until then. Cap may be an issue and it is likely chychrun would require a huge contract to stick around. And that isn't even taking into account that puck moving D with Dahlin and Power already on the team are nowhere near the biggest need, or Chycheun's extensive and recurring injury history.

I would think about moving the first for Moser from Arizona though. Not as sexy, but a better fit and would be around for a long time. Unfortunately I doubt he is for sale.

2 more years after this one so potentially 3 years in playoffs.Look maybe your not high on Chychrun like iam I love the 2 way 220 pound dman.He would definitely fit in our cap and you can't rely or project draft picks of how or when they will contribute if at all.Add the fact Dahlin is out and we have horrible defence after our top 3 to me it was a move I wouldn't hesitate to make at all in fact the easiest decision in his tenure. So now what? Where are we finding a D the fits our core without a major trade which will hurt us? I don't see anyone in free agency that entices me and even if there were Adams track record in free agency is laughable. You can't be worried what will happen in 3 years. You think Tampa ,Boston, etc cares ? They just keep retooling baby while we do nothing and rely on our draft picks which by the way NONE will be ready with maybe Johnson half way thru the year and he hasn't even signed yet!!

What if Arizona told Chych we have a couple offers that are comparable, where would you rather go? And he picked Ott?

What if Arizona preferred Ott 1st rounder in 2023 compared to others thinking it could be top 13?

So many assumptions in this thread.

If Arizona is letting Jakob Chychryn decide the best deal for their franchise then they are more of a dump then many of us believe.

A properly ran franchise would settle for the best deal and would allow other teams to match.

1. The vast majority of all regular NHL fans would say they are worse than a complete dump. A total Cleveland steamer.

2. I did say comperable deal. Those are out there and something like that has happened with other players.

3. They are no where close to a properly run franchise. Like, think Washington Commanders without the sexual scandals.

The truth is we can’t acquire what we need at the deadline.

Ownership changes typically happen in the offseason

Is having the team flat out quit part of Kevyn’s precious plan?

I’d hate to not give credit when it’s due

This week sends a message of a complete lack of expectations for this roster. I'm not one of the posters that didn't think playoffs were possible back in the summer. I thought with solid goaltending they could make it. Turns out team defense was more lacking than I expected, but they still outscored their mistakes enough to be in contention this late. I literally posted back in September that they would have to outscore their mistakes, and they almost have done that enough despite the team defense.

Before anyone thinks I'm talking about rentals, stop. I'm talking about useless adds like Stillman taking up a roster spot to be another bad #7 Dman. I'm talking about saying "no thanks" to adding a top-four Dman for three playoff runs, at a fair price and good cap hit. To not fill the biggest roster hole with the right type of player when the chance presented itself (who cares if it's the TDL or draft) but right as two top players go down and you can still make a run for playoffs anyway??? It's a complete losing mentality and tells the players there aren't high expectations for them right now. Some could even think the GM gave up on them in crunch time.

When is it the right time to get better? Every day it is. I'm glad Granato told Thompson that the time is (was) now. It's a great message, but not one that the front office apparently believes in. Just so lame, and true to this franchise's losing history, unfortunately.

He would absolutely help this year, but do you think they are going to show well against the Bruins or Canes in the first round?

Look at the roster and the age of all the players. They haven't even scratched the surface of what this team will become, even without any moves.

You trade several high picks and Chuchrun walks as a UFA in 2025, and you have a big hole and lost all those future assets. If power, Dahlin, Cozens, Quinn, Krebs and Peterka were all 25-27 and ready for a physical long playoff grind, a Chychrun trade would be very smart. But right now? Way too early for any player that is a UFA before their window opens.

Here we are. 7-1 roasting. And we wanna give up multiple firsts for a busted Chych, or rental?
I mean really. Save the 5 games of experience against this exact Bruins team. It ain't worth the 5 games. (If they even made it which is <50%).

Personally I’d like to see the defense and secondary scoring improved precisely because of games like this

Games like this show how many changes they need to make. With none of the missing pieces in the pipeline…or arriving inside of three years…aside from more skill forwards and one goalie dart.

Do people expect sweeping wholesale changes that need to happen? Because if he’d have done ANYTHING he should have last offseason and ANYTHING he should this deadline…we’d be that many pieces closer.

We aren’t.

If you’re banking on the offseason…it’s not happening. We’ll be lucky if he ditches Comrie for an actual goalie.
