Pasta in at 8 x 11.25 is pretty reasonable for a perennial Rocket award contender.
What! How can a perenial winner like this give out these kind of contracts, trade picks and prospects for good players, sign UFA's ............ and not completely implode! I don't understand. I have been told you cannot do this?

Those Bruins are going to be sorry in 6 years when this all comes home to roost! By then we will be close, almost but not quite ready to make moves to get better, and they will be wishing they were as "smaht" as us.

Man what's with all the panic guys. Why why WHY, would we push chips/assets into the middle with a 1st round against Boston or Carolina looming AT BEST. EVERYone is loading up burning picks like water.

Stand pat. Zig while everyone else zags. I'd rather pickup next years Chychrun so then we have him two more years after THAT. It's too early and an L against Columbus showcases that. Even if there's 5 games of experience, it doesn't make sense to burn assets to lose out on a playoff spot wince there 6 teams going for 2 spots, or lose in the 1sr round AT BEST. Everyone feeling the pressure like an actual GM before tomorrows deadline. Leave emotions out of it and look at it practically.

It seems like it. Marty's comments about how deflating that deal was during one of the Sabres Live in the last week still stick with me.
Rob Ray has said the same thing recently IIRC. Rivet has blasted them for the talk about future and what the room thinks.

Former players are telling you what is happening with no mistaking it.

The pegulas can be selectively cheap, which you can see in the NFLPA survey that got released yesterday. They invested in a new weight room for the Bills, but continue splitting a nutritionist between both teams rather than having dedicated ones for each team. They’ve also got childcare programs for the players but have relatively cramped travel arrangements and are one of the few teams in the league that insist on rookies sharing rooms on the road.
NFL players across the spectrum complain about travel arrangements, There are too many massive bodies that don't fit into plane seats very comfortably. Nothing exclusive to the Bills there.

McDermott insists on rookies sharing rooms on the road for bonding purposes. I imagine if the Pegulas vetoed him on this, you would be up in arms over that.

Why, why, why potentially kill the vibes in the room by not trying to improve for this year and years beyond, regardless of what the outcome this season's playoffs might be. This remains a marathon, not a sprint. Chychrun is still building toward next season and the one beyond as well as a short-term gain to reward the room and the fans by just getting in.

The L against Columbus is precisely because the depth isn’t NHL caliber. That’s what I want them to fix!

I want Joker traded sooner than later for this exact reason. His price is going to rise above his replacement cost, and above what I want to spend on a 3rd pair dman that needs the right partner to be effective. I don't like a third pairing dman at those prices that doesn't play the PK or PP. He could be a better fit as a long term second pair next to a more defensive partner. He had to have a 1st round pick value given his age and contract.

I love Girgs and want him on a 3 year contract, but I am not paying 3 AAV for a 4th line winger. Your paying your defensive 1st pair dman 4 AAV. I would be willing to give him a small raise and do 3 years at 2.5 AAV. Still steep.

Kevin has got to have and keep a available goalie budget. You will pay 10 mill a year for one defenseman that is on the ice one third of the time, vs a starting goaltender that is on the ice 60% of the time thru the season and is arguably more impactful on goal differential? We need to be willing and able to pay for quality goaltenders.
Ya Joker @ $5m is crazy. And talk of OP getting $6m like Dahlin on a bridge is a long way away from his current play. Right now he's getting $4-$4.5m x 3.

Goalies will be Comrie @ ~$2m and UPL @ ~$2.5m. KA won't upgrade that position.

$3m for Girgs??? If he takes 3x $1.75m then maybe. I'd rather have Hinostroza for 3 years at something between $1.3m and $1.5m.

And please don't bring back KO unless it's 1 yr @ $1.5m or less. I think he would be more useful as an Asst Coach on the bench rather than on the ice.

Dahlin
Power
Samuelsson
Jokiharju
Lyubushkin
Bryson/Stillman/Clague

Clague is an RFA and the rest are under contract for next season.

The most likely D to crack the top 6 will be Ryan Johnson if he signs with the Sabres.

Outside of that, I would be surprised if Adams does something like trading Jokiharju+ for an upgrade at Power's partner before the start of next season.
Going into next season that way should be a fireable offense.

Is there something explicit to that effect? It wasn’t present in the players’ accounts in their survey responses

If Kev doesn’t do anything else he’s telling his players they aren’t good enough for the playoffs. If that happens I expect a near total collapse down the stretch. Especially without Tuch and with a banged up Dahlin. We might end up drafting top 10.

Or, he's telling them that he believes that they are good enough to make the playoffs with what they have in the room today.

They are 4 points out with 5 games in hand.

Marathon is exactly why I'd rather stand pat. Next TD there's going to be less teams with assets to move and we can pounce. I honestly don't think Not making a move will kill the vibes this team has going. They're literally the youngest team in the league by an entire half a year and they're going to be hungry in August to get the season going.

Firing adds money. The same D doesn’t.

He’s doing as instructed
Dude, you literally have no evidence for this bullshit you keep hammering on. It’s way more plausible that he’s not doing anything because he’s too inexperienced and afraid to make a mistake.

Hanlon's razor is a saying that reads: Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

Borgen isn't available. Would you trade Samuelsson for another team's 7th best prospect?

Yes, all day. I have a hard time seeing Seattle doing that though.

edit: also can't see Adams doing this.
We could have protected Borgen in the expansion draft instead of selecting Rosen.

(I figure we could have gotten the 2nd by taking cap dump Hagg)

Or we could have selected Wyatt Johnston with that 1st rounder.

Some GMs get it.

It’s a different approach

“but it’s the better approach because I WANT that”

Who cares if their core they mustered together with big moves ends up not being good or ever winning anything

The L against Columbus is precisely because the depth isn’t NHL caliber. That’s what I want them to fix!

That loss is not on the depth.

Adams has never said anything for us to believe he will do anything but continue to evaluate this team and see how they respond to the pressures and grind of the season. We're all just butt hurt because it's Christmas and we all got a lump in our stocking.
