EDIT: someone good at photoshop please put the bike guy as the Sabres logo and the ball as trades, please

I’m not going to complain about inaction where he still has this trade deadline and this off-season to fill some of these holes. Then we can compare the moves…or complain about inaction.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m 100% on team “KA needs to make a few additions before next season”. I’m just not convinced he needs to do it this off-season. This year has already gone about as good as it can, it’s okay if they are riding this group of players this year
I mean sure. Its not like KA is dead to me and the team has no future, but it's another trade window where he's come up with nothing to improve the team in the short term or long term (so far). And there have been clear opportunities to do so.

If he wasn't willing to pull the trigger now, why would he be later? He's going to have to spend the assets at some point, why not do it while your team is competing for a playoff spot?

I'm in this very weird place where I'm salty that we didn't beat Ottawa for him........................and at the same time kind of glad we didn't. It's weird. I'm weird.
I understand it. Way too injury prone & I could see him walking in 2 years if we didn't give him a massive extension. I'd rather use our 1st on a very good RD prospect instead of Chychrun for maybe 2 years. I get why people are upset, but I think it was the right move.

My concern is Dahlin is getting punished out there and has to play 27-30 minutes a game.

Its Adam's job to not put Dahlin in that position.

You can see Sammy out there is just flat out tired.

Adams is literally burning out the defense.
I mean he's only played over 27 minutes 1 time since the 1st of the year. He's their #1 Dman, he's going to play big minutes regardless.

If I was playing pretend GM I’m probably with you! I’d have pulled the trigger on a trade or two.

But I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt this year on improving this team. I’ll be ready to criticize him if he doesn’t make some moves this off-season

Oh so before the 1st of the year doesn't count or? Isn't the season 82 games? Not two seasons split in half.

He is injured and getting wacked and slashed out there and having to take on people he shouldn't have to.

I was in the "we don't need Chrychren so badly that we should trade multiple 1st and prospects for him" camp.

But damn, that's all he went for after all that build up?

The conditions annoy me. The 2024 2nd becomes a 2024 1st if the Sens make the Eastern Conference Finals THIS YEAR?!?! They may not even make the playoffs

The point is he's going to get whacked, slashed, take abuse and play big minutes regardless of whether they have Chychrun or not. That's what top pairing Dmen go through. Or do you want every Dman playing exactly 20 minutes?

I mean Ottawa didn't have to pay much for him, but I'm still not too bothered we didn't get Chychrun. I'd rather a general uplift of our bottom three D-men rather than one big name addition.

My feelings as well.

Maybe Adams knows something we don’t. Does Chych want to re-up at 9m? Do we have a summer trade already set for a team that wants one last chance of going for it before blowing it up?

It’s hard to call for Adams head because he obviously knows our needs and our trade capital. Makes me think there’s something already planned behind the scenes, even if sometimes it feels like we’ve been over-patient.

The point is the toll of an 82 game season is what matters, not how you can manipulate a random start date.

To the last question, yes. I want every Dman to be able to do that at minimum, and play more in the result of injuries or ejections.

So if Dahlin only played 22 minutes a night, he wouldn't have gotten injured? That would have prevented him from getting hacked or slashed? Tampa would have been less dirty because he wasn't on the ice for 3 or 4 less minutes?

He was playing more than usual because we had 3 d men injured. With everyone healthy he averaged about 25:44 minutes.

He plays similar amount of minutes that other top defenceman play.

Makar: 26:56
Doughty: 26:18
Dahlin: 26:00
Miro: 25:35
Karlsson: 25:33
Hughes: 25:03
Fox: 24:46

He's a top defenceman. He's gonna play a lot of minutes. I don't really see an issue.
