I dont understand people here who thinks Adams not doing anything. He does the perfect job and works according to the set plan this is not evaluated in terms like if he does trades this deadline . He needed time and needs more time if he just trades away everything he drafted that took time to get he is a bad gm and these are stuff That can ruin a cup. Thats whats he means with we have it in our organization But it Will take some time to take these players to NHL like Johnson , Savoie Kulich rosen Ostlund . We have it here already. He should not do anything major this deadline as we still is going through the set timeline. He needs to draft good again this summer and then guys like Okposo, Anderson, Jost , Hinostroza ,clague , bishop contract, bjork and others like hodgson contract , subban Will be gone . He Will know what he needs to improve then and then he Will be able to get a good goalie that can go with uko, he Will be able to replace Okposo and these players .get a veteran d if needed . Take Johnson in the lineup in the 3 d pair without ruin the roster .

Amazing job setting up our 2 first centers for little over 7 mil each. We dont need to trade for someone overpaid and then we cant sign quinn Peterka Kulich Savoie and these players later.

Amazing job . Hopefully we reach the playoffs But this is not a season we will Will the cup. Next season is a most to reach the playoffs But this is just a bonus.
All good but we need size.We need guys who are willing to go to the dirty areas and a big nasty defensive defenceman. I love our skill set from our core but in the pipeline we have two now on forward who will play in the hard to go areas..Nadeau and possibly Cedarquist. Bloom was traded for nothing so we need to find players with grit not peripheral players

I know you don't want to trade any draft picks or prospects but I have to ask, who is available in offseason on defense that can help us longterm and fits our age and core? I mean Chychrun is a no Brainerd but nobody wants to give up anything for a top 2 two way defenceman with size and is 24.Whats your solution because iam out of options
I’m fine trading a 2nd+ secondary prosoect

if not trading trade Rosen, Quinn, Peterka, 22 1st, 23 1st for just about anyone. If I did there would not be a + attached to them.

anyone who says Rosen= Schaeffer that nashville got is just clueless on evaluating player value yet these same posters complain of Murray giving away too much.

assume Johnson signed and 23 1st is a RD draft so they are certainly on this team in 25/26 along with Power, Samuelsson, and Dahlin. The team needs 2 to fill it out. You can get a UFA to fill that role.

between then you are looking at shorter term fill

That makes me say "SOLD" without a second of hesitation......so that tells me it's not nearly enough. And keep in mind that I'm one that isn't necessarily for a Chychrun trade to begin with.......and even I think that there's going to be a 1st round pick in any deal for Chychrun, be it 2023 or 2024.
How about 24 and 25 Rosen and Portillo?

I agree. The only trade I really wish Adams was in on was Niederreiter. He's signed for next year, and couldve provided a short-term fixture in the top-9 until some of the 2021-2022 prospects graduate up. Well worth one of our three second rounders.

Eckholm would've been nice, but the price was pretty damn high. Didnt Muzzin go for a 1st round pick a few years? They were pretty similar players, too, though I think Muzzin was only signed for one more season.

I think Buffalo offered vegas 2nd..minnesota offered their2nd

Kulich would also be tough for me to see us part with. I havent watched him a ton, but what he's doing in the AHL is amazing to see for such a young kid.

So, it bodes the question- would you guys be willing to part with one of Kulich, Savoie, Rosen, or Ostlund + a 1st for Chychrun because Im assuming Arizona will want one of our big-4 forward prospects + a 1st.
How about 24 and 25 plus Rosen plus Portillo rights

I am in the camp that Chychrun doesn’t really fit. As a type I would have liked a Gavrikov or Orlov. But I could see the other side that he would be an upgrade in the event Dahlin or Power are unavailable. I am now in the let’s ride this season out and see where the chips fall.

Edit: goaltending is still the achilles heel

My trade with Arizona

Chychrun
Crouse
2nd 24
2nd 25
conditional 2nd pick in 24 or 25 tied to where the BUF firsts end up being like if they are 6-12 range but picks are top 5 protected
AZ trades Olofsson, BUF retains 50%.

for

Joker
Bryson
Olofsson
PHL 2nd 23
BUF 1st in 24
BUF 1st in 25
secondary prospects ( not 1st rounders)

thr conditional pick(s) is tied to expected drsft position of the 1st. AZ has 5 2nds in each draft in 24 and 25 drafts. if the pick is playoffs it’s a middle round pick, if it’s higher then an additional pick.
other conditions tied to chychrun health in regard to these picks.

in 24…..

if he misses half the season thr pick is BUF 2nd. If he plays 42-55 games it’s playoff protected. If he plays 55+ it’s top 12 protected. If it’s 6-12 buffalo can give the 1st and take the best 2nd AZ has in 24.

no he is not. Most of the players moved are rentals. Shiny Hogh Ompact Toy Syndrome

buffalo has 4 1st rounders in the system who coukd play next year or the year after. So they don’t need long term stuff or getting a rental and signing them for 1-2 yrs.

im fine moving prospects…but not for rentals or short term players
There have been alot of trades that were not rentals. Saying most of the moves are is disingenuous.

Also, since almost no one is banging the drum for us to spend assets on rentals, maybe you could stop repeating that, since what most of us are looking for is for current players, prospects, and draft picks to be used on impactful players to fill bigger needs longer term.

NONE of those last 4 1st rounders should be playing in the NHL next year. NONE! They are years away from impacting the Sabres in any meaningful way, 4-5 from being consistent reliable players. They are not the solution to this team making the next step unless they are used to get player we need.

I feel similar. We really need to upgrade Joki, and Im not sure Chychrun would be as solid as a RD + Im not eager to try Power on his offside this early in his career, either.

Im not sure any D man is available that's a clear upgrade ober Joki. Maybe Fabbro would provide better chemistry with Power? I believe he's an RFA.

And I understand having 3 good defensemen on a pair can come with some very good benefits, but Im iffy on the price it would cost to have that luxury.

Is bernmeister suddenly a Sabres fan? Lots of moving pieces, explanations and words.....all for a trade that ridiculously one-sided...........

*watches so many players who aren’t going to be UFA move*

*comes to hfboards*. “Eh….it’s rentals anyway who cares”

*bangs head against desk*

Trying to sneak by them giving up their 2nds for our 1sts which is probably gonna be 10-15 slot difference is hilarious.

How many of those deals were for teams that going all in the win the cup. Look around at teams the Sabres are fighting for the last playoff spots are doing. Only the islanders did anything significant.
