This all sounds good, but he has yet to do anything at ANY position for over a year. There have been many players moved who would have improved the team now and for the future. I'm not saying I'd want him to do every one of those trades, but his actions are yet to match his words.

I get being in on everything, but you don't see areas where you have more need than others? This makes me question again whether he knows how to build a good roster if he can't even prioritize what our needs are.
It’s just PR speak. He surely knows what they lack

I read this as, "prices are bananas and I'm not gunna blow through assets and the bargain bin is marked up. I'll keep an eye on guys leading up to Friday to see if prices go down and if someone bites on Oloffson or Bryson and pays a premium I'll do it, if not, y'all get what you're seeing ".
Yeah I read it like that to.. I guess playing meaningful games in mars is just a bonus to the long term strategy a bold strategy indeed team can have slump next year.

PR speak is supposed to appease the public. His words do not inspire confidence.

"We know we have some areas where we could improve and we will continue to looking at those areas to see if there's something we can do, but I don't want to limit my focus to only those areas, because you never know what other options might be available. I'm going to be aggressive at improving this team because I believe our fans deserve a winner, but I need to be careful to not hurt that same goal in the future." - good PR

He’s not very good at it, no, but the local media sucks so he doesn’t need to be

Dahlin taking a beating and gets hurt having to play 30 minutes a game.

Adams - ya so?
My favorite is the two separate occasions it was reported Adams wanted to get a D that were complete bullshit. Last deadline we heard that they knew Power was coming and wanted to get an appropriate partner to help him. A couple months into this season it was that he wanted to alleviate the pressure and hardships they were putting their young D through by leaning so heavily on them.

He didn’t give a f***

I think hand-wringing over his recent comments is a waste of time and energy. He uses and has used the same tropes for months now. How many times does he talk about getting better everyday? It's the same stuff over and over again. We see that he made a solid trade with the Eichel deal, so we know he has the patience necessary to not get totally raked against the coals, but we see how that patience could potentially backfire.

The thing is though, until Friday, all of these things are empty words into the void. I see no reason to get worked-up about them because they just don't really mean a whole lot in the larger scope of things.

If Demko would come cheaply.......I'd consider him. I think with a fully healthy offseason and a decent team in front of him, he'll rebound to at least an NHL-average goalie.

But when I say cheaply, I'm talking like UPL and a 2nd.

Might not do us much good this season, but it could be a substantial upgrade next year.
I was listening to the PDOCast today and Filipovic suggested Comrie+Johnson+Philly’s 2nd, and the other two hosts thought it was fair value.

Agree. My original point was just that his words don't match his actions to this point. He's saying he's looking every day, scouring the globe for trades that will make us better, but his actions say the opposite because there have been many players moved who would have done exactly that.

I'm not saying we should take everything he says as 100% fact or even care that much about what he says. I'm saying it's the actions that matter, and he has yet to act.

Quite so. It's hard to compare other trades to this organization, I feel. The Jeannot trade as an example. Ample people on these boards wanted him. (Myself included) Though when the price came out I can't remember one poster saying they would've been comfortable at that price. So contextually, even though Adams didn't do anything in that trade, it was the right move.

Obviously this organization has holes and this roster needs help. There's no questioning that. I hope KA finds the right player and partner by Friday to push this team into the postseason. Given the relative success of the team to this point, I'm not going to metaphorically throw him to the wolves if he doesn't.

Offer Clague and a 2nd for Klingberg and go full offense baby
Barrie, Klingberg etc. would at least provide something compared to Clague, Stillman and co.

He wanted to. He just didn't want to work for it. Common in management

There is still time, but so far....KA is losing this game of GM musical chairs. The top players on my list that could have had good longterm impact are all gone. Last year when he failed to trade any of our UFA's for anything, I tilted my head with curiosity. So far this year it is again looking like we may be going to fail the deadline again. Right now I am expecting KA to find himself with no chair to sit in by end of day friday, and will watch this team slowly slip out of the playoffs. HALF the players on our team need replacing, so they should be active in making changes.

I realize that a third of this board is enamored with draft picks and prospects we won't see for many years to come if at all, but I am not one of them. There is enough core here to start putting muscle on the skeleton.

no he is not. Most of the players moved are rentals. Shiny Hogh Ompact Toy Syndrome

buffalo has 4 1st rounders in the system who coukd play next year or the year after. So they don’t need long term stuff or getting a rental and signing them for 1-2 yrs.

im fine moving prospects…but not for rentals or short term players

I see moves happening in the off season

i think Jost can be resigned, below QO level and avoid arbitration

i think Olofsson is traded because they woukd probably not want the distraction

bryson, Asplund, Joker are up in the air. Joker is only getting moved if buffalo gets another D for him or in another deal

Mitts trade is possible but it would be in a bigger trade.

I see Girgs resigned. I don’t see KO resigned….I think he retires.
I know you don't want to trade any draft picks or prospects but I have to ask, who is available in offseason on defense that can help us longterm and fits our age and core? I mean Chychrun is a no Brainerd but nobody wants to give up anything for a top 2 two way defenceman with size and is 24.Whats your solution because iam out of options

People doing their due diligence here reposting what Adams is saying, but it's been a copy and paste in every article and interview for the last 2 months. We aren't gonna pull anything from him, and his interview will be exactly the same Friday at 4 PM.

I agree. The only trade I really wish Adams was in on was Niederreiter. He's signed for next year, and couldve provided a short-term fixture in the top-9 until some of the 2021-2022 prospects graduate up. Well worth one of our three second rounders.

Eckholm would've been nice, but the price was pretty damn high. Didnt Muzzin go for a 1st round pick a few years? They were pretty similar players, too, though I think Muzzin was only signed for one more season.
