If Toronto were willing to go there, you would think that the deal would have been done by now.

While we've been waiting Sandin and Llligjgenejegren have become really good middle pairing type guys for the Leafs.

I do have a little hope that Adams is playing chicken with Armstrong.
And if Adams has proven anything, it is that he is patient and willing to wait to get the deal he wants.
It's a game of chicken. Arizona clearly needs to lower expectations.
I never said we should make panic moves to try to make the playoffs this year.Hall was entirely different. Signings were more driven around what Kruger wanted.
he moved a 3rd and got tuckahoe and Krebs….
why panic and move young prospects now befire their full development is realized?
thus year even if they added Meier and made the playoffs, they still likely don’t get past the 1st round. I’m more comfortable doing such a deal if I felt I should be grttingbto the 2nd round and have a chance for more which thrn puts the 2st late innthe round.
I really wonder about that.Surprisingly, I think we wouldn't be on that list. That's an area where the Pegula/Chychrun relationship helps.
And I think given this season, we're going to be taken off of a bunch of no trade lists.
It's exactly a game of chicken...............and I absolutely trust that Adams won't blink first.
Yup. Tell Arizona to call Eichel ask how Adams handles pressure on a deal. It's exactly a game of chicken...............and I absolutely trust that Adams won't blink first.
.......that's one DEEP dive there, and I love it.Kevyn "Lagophthalmos" Adams?
I think you vastly overestimate the impact of a single move like those.I never said we should make panic moves to try to make the playoffs this year.
I'm just pointing out that in 3 years Adams has no history of adding significant players to the current roster via UFA or trade. (outside of Tuch who we also gave up Eichel to get)
I think it's a mistake in long term roster building that we didn't pick up anyone significant in 2021 or 2022 offseason via trade or UFA.
Look at NJ. They've been adding pieces for 2-3 years and now they're the 3rd best team in the league. They added good long term pieces before they were "ready". Because they knew those pieces they added would still be on the team once the prospects had matured.
Waiting until the team has matured to add anyone from outside could be too late.
Imagine if we had made even one good trade or signing in each of those off seasons instead of 0. Like imagine picking up a top 4 dman in 2021, and Husso this past year?
We'd be battling for 2nd-3rd in the Atlantic, not on the fringes of the WC.
I don't think I could stomach 2 firsts. The ask for Ekholm is apparently around 2 first round picks. I'd much rather do that than pay Armstrong's asking price for Chychrun.
Not only the Pegula connection but I think the days of assuming Buffalo is on everyones no trade list are starting to fade away.. I think most look at Buffalo and see a legit young up and coming core with a bright future.Surprisingly, I think we wouldn't be on that list. That's an area where the Pegula/Chychrun relationship helps.

They would have to move someone out, already down to a 20 man roster.I kinda expect Holland to go there because "the players" *cough*cough*McDrai*cough*cough* want a transition defenseman in Edmonton. I don't know if that helps them that much since I still think the biggest issues in Edmonton are how many of their forwards can't find their way around their own zone with a compass, a map, and a sherpa - some of them willingly ignorant of it.
And that includes McDavid.

I doubt Adams could stomach that. For Ekholm? Why not? He's more of what we need on defense than Chychrun is, IMO. He's tough, rugged, physical and has a ton of playoff experience. Yeah, that contract may not age well......but I'd think even at the end of it he'll be at worst a serviceable 3rd pair/PK guy.
The team has some magic this year, head into the playoffs on a heater and beat Toronto in the 1st round.
With Krebs and Jost playing well, I doubt he is on Adams' radar.Would a guy like Sam Lafferty be a trade possibility? Good bottom six faceoff and PK guy, plenty of speed and signed through 2024 at a reasonable price? Seems like that hits a lot of check marks with Adams plan.
oh yea thats right i forgot how they moved the WC teams around we would play carolina? There's a 0.0000001% chance we'd play Toronto in the first round. They'd either need to catch Boston and us finish in the "correct" WC spot or we'd need to catch Tampa.
Husso has easily been worth +10 points for Detroit this season, if not significantly more.I think you vastly overestimate the impact of a single move like those.
They are not improving the Sabres by 15-ish points in the standings over 60 games played. That is what it would take to be in 2nd or 3rd place in the division today.
I doubt Adams could stomach that.
I will be surprised if he trades a 1st round pick between 2021 (Rosen) and 2024. But, maybe he will surprise me...
I like him as a depth guy now (either replaces Jost, Peterka, Hino, or comes in due to another injury), and as a long-term add to replace Okposo next season and beyond. Should cost a 2nd at most...it's an easy and cheap move. I think he's under-rated.Would a guy like Sam Lafferty be a trade possibility?
