That’s why I don’t think it’s that bad.

I don’t think I’d have been super happy if we did Raty and a 3rd for Duclair. Or one upped Carolina’s offer for Guentzel - which Rossi is hinting will make pens fans happy. I don’t want to pay the Toffoli price at all.

A fair few deals have been pretty cheap (Hanifin, Duhaime) and I would have paid those prices in a heartbeat. Others not so much.

I’m not a fan of Duclair especially since the Achilles injury and don’t think he would have fit in a Rick Tocchet team.

If this is the case then I'm on board but if there's 3 teams making non-lowball offers on Zucker, I doubt he's going to come cheap, especially with retention cost factored in.

I think he's a 3rd line winger, which is useful to have but not a guy who's going to make a significant impact. There's probably some less heralded players out there that don't have multiple teams making offers on that could have a similar impact. I'd rather see Allvin/JR make some sneaky moves like that instead of chasing ex-Pens and potentially paying more than what's necessary for that caliber of player.

One thing that's clear is GMs don't give a shit about 6th round or 7th round picks and fringe prospects (aside from that loser Conroy).

You are severely limited unless you have a deep prospect pool.
