Yeah, agree. 2 in 3 seasons is incredible. Never imagined 1, let alone 2 cups. Have always thought this core had 1 more cup in them though. We'll see.

Defense. I think DL is still shopping for a d. Not enough to get another forward and a d, unless a contract moves out.
Guessing Versteeg is the forward upgrade for the bottom 6, which they needed, they're top heavy
You can really play Versteeg almost anywhere which is probably why DL acquired him but I'm just going to assume Gaborik takes that 1st line spot come playoff time. I'd drop Lewis down 4th line C and have Versteeg at 3RW.
You watch Nick Shore last night and you really want him even touching the ice come playoff time? That guys the biggest liability on the team. He's quickly imploding into a healthy scratch. He started off as a 3c and now he's barely even in the lineup, if that Purcell/Schultz trade went through they were going to send him down. I'm pretty confident he won't be in the lineup when the playoffs come around and honestly, Idk what anyone has seen that would want him in the lineup.
Nolan/Andreoff/Shore should only be in the lineup because of injuries/suspensions. One more trade today and we might never have to see them in the lineup again this season.
How is he better than a guy who has not even played one game in a kings jersey yet?
Dustin Brown has been so garbage for so long any time he does anything close to positive Kings fans want to think he isn't a bottom 6er anymore. Guys a 3rd liner at best, he still is frustrating as **** to watch as he approaches the blue line and like a ****n idiot that he is, loses the puck instead of getting it deep.

That should tell you just how bad he's been. They also didn't pick up versteeg to play on the 4th line.

Agree with the bottom 6. Maybe move lewis to C and take shore out for clifford. Not sure how I feel about splitting up Toffoli and Carter. But would be A-OK with giving it a wirl.
I get that, but putting versteeg on the top line is over hyping what he is going to bring. I hope I am wrong, but I do not see versteeg as a difference maker.

Brown has 8 goals, 5 of them against Arizona, one of them the 9th of 9 goals in Boston, one against Edmonton, and then a PS against Carolina. He's not the only guy that's gone cold, but he's got 3 goals against anyone not in a Coyote jersey.
You're betting on Toffoli, Gaborik, Lucic, and Pearson coming into the year. Those were supposed to be your top 6 wingers. Only two have done enough this season. Then Gaborik was healthy, but wasn't scoring. Pearson was coming back from an injury, but not scoring. Now Gaborik is out, Pearson is scoring a bit, but Toffoli and Lucic haven't done a whole lot in the last 6 or 8 weeks.

this is truth. Love Pearson and glad he is starting to heat up. However other than OT and a nice bounce he has not done a whole lot. Would be good to see him (and the whole team) get going a bit 5 on 5

Some people love to complain about Lucic and his turnovers, and rightfully so, but rarely do you see people even notice Brown and his turnovers. At least five a game by him. He just looks marginally better because he's playing with one of the best centers in the NHL.
the closer it get to the deadline, the more the price drops, these teams asking for the moon for fringe players either need to make the trade or get nothing for players the won't keep ...wait it out Dean

What I would like to see is a coach that doesn't make the lineup card on an Etch-A-Sketch. Maybe get some consistency on a nightly thing.

Same with Kopitar. He's got 3 goals at ES in the last 17 games, and they all came against the Rangers. Same with Carter. He's got 1 ES goal in his last 19 games, and it was against Edmonton.
The Kings are 24th in 5v5 goals this year. League leading CF%, but they're not doing enough with it. Not for the last few months anyway. The theory is keep doing it, eventually things break your way. Right now the net must look like a basketball hoop to everyone on the team.
While they're barely squeeking by some of these teams lately, the good news is that at least they're squeeking by some of the teams lately.
