And Doughty, Muzzin and Martinez are better now than in 2014. Is it enough to offset the changes? That's to be determined in 2 months.

The same team went from the 29th ranked offense to adding Gaborik/Pearson and went to 3 goals a game and the most goals and I believe goals per game in the playoffs.

Pearson is looking better lately, but still not all the way back, Gaborik is out and who knows how he'll look when he comes back... although he's experienced with coming back from injuries. Does this team have enough depth to push the Brown's/Lewis' down to the bot 6? If it doesn't the offense is going to be **** and they won't go anywhere.

This is as good as it gets. The question will be answered soon enough.

Ducks were dumb to move Maroon. Stewart is out with a broken jaw. The Ducks identity is similar to ours and now they are left a bit soft up front...who is the toughest forward now, Garbutt? Lol.

They'll still push the Kings around and I doubt we'll even see much of a response from the Kings. :shakehead

Guess I'm still pissed about the team *****ing out yesterday.

Yes. This is what I'd like to see rolling into the playoffs and it doesn't even include a healthy Gaborik (which looks like it might be a possibility).

Pearson - Carter - Toffoli
King - Lecavalier - Lewis
Clifford - Shore - Brown

If our top guys come alive we could do some damage, just have to get in the damn thing and stay healthy.

I don't think Shore is cut for playoff hockey. He got abused last night by the Ducks centers.

I wish he was more willing to initiate contact and use his body, you don't have to kill anybody Shore but stop being a pansy and put your body on the line.

I think Dowd may be better suited to play that role, whereas Shore may be better suited to play his passive game in the minors.

He doesn't have the body for it.

I honestly think they are just going through the motions until playoffs start. I truly believe sutter when he says he doesn't care about winning the division. Evidence of him rolling 4 lines no matter the score...

Plus, Sutter is always playing the long game. If you don't play these guys now when the stakes are less, you'll never be able to play them in the playoffs when it matters. As far as winning the division, you have to weigh how much you depend on home ice and also, how much travel you want to do in round 1.

Im really introgued by Nic Dowd seems like a energy spark plug and has been progressing. Maybe he will
Be more cut out for the playoffs than Shore. Why not call him up for the 4th line

I'd be on board with this. Dowd has had a really good season with the Reign, and he has all of the qualities you'd want in your fourth line center -- speed, grit, faceoffs, and some playmaking abilities. Must be worth a try. Shore got abused last night.

I'd also like to see Gravel get some playing time. Rest Scuds' old-*** body for the playoffs

dowd is gonna be the coolest black ace.

I'm sorry I missed most of today, this looks like it was a fun thread to play in!

YES, or the years he acquired Modin.

Modin literally cost us nothing! He was a conditional seventh rounder, that condition being reaching the SCF IIRC. I loved that guy for who he was even though his best years were behind him, free Swedish tank.

The last I saw it was all about Chicago or Dallas. If Lombardi got in there, and Hamhuis was willing, great. Clearly Vancouver was being unreasonable.

Benning is such a turd. I'm glad he got caught with the phone in his hand at the deadline with nothing to show for Hamhuis. Everyone in the world knows he was going back there next year but man get a low pick or something out of it.

That's an interesting assessment. Hossa is running around on one knee. Towes is lighting the world on fire with his 44 points, and their bottom pair is anchored by perennial norris candidate "one-knee Rozi."

Every team has issues.

Amen. Chicago is getting carried by Kane, Panarin, Keith. I'd like to think some other guys will wake up but who knows, and everyone is drooling over their additions like they're something special when if DL overpaid for some of those parts this place would have died. Seriously, they got a guy who isn't even an annual 20 point player and people around here are singing praises. They got bigger and slower, we should be stoked.

There were points in last nights game where I saw the fourth line and like Scuderi-Schenn out there every other shift....while Boudreau was constantly line matching. It's kind of hilarious when you analyze it from that perspective. As long as it doesn't keep us out of the playoffs like in 2015, it's great.

Ah, the proverbial flip of the switch!!!

I've always liked Dowd's game. He seems more suited to be a 4c. A little more tenacious.

Why do I see occasional shot thrown at the Modin move, of all things? Were the good ones taken? Because like RJ said, Modin cost us nothing and was productive in our first, short, return to the postseason.

Are you guys ****ing kidding? That's the same group that has won the cup twice. Quick is the best goalie in the league come playoffs, and everyone usually wakes the **** up. Doughty can produce at Karlsson's level and play solid defense. If Pearson gets back to playing like he did a year ago, we'll be fine; it will be a tough matchup like it always is, but we definitely have a chance. The only thing I would say is missing is an extra top 4 D but look at Chicago's roster, they have 3 below average and worse defensemen.

It's not the same group. The Kings chances depend on a lot of "ifs". The Defense is missing a TOP 4D, Mcnabb is looking like a liability and who knows what will become of Scuderi. You guys need to stop comparing it to the Chicago roster, who the hell on the Kings is going to put up 115 points this season? Which guy is scoring 30 goals? It's not all doom and gloom and yes the Kings have a shot at winning the cup but right now I'd say they are thinking positively the 3rd best team in the Western Conference right now behind Chicago and Anaheim. (people would argue that the Stars and Blues if they weren't so decimated are better and the Sharks are on the King's ass)

What's missing that we had before? A Dustin Brown that isn't a pile of bricks on the ice. Justin Williams, you can argue Lucic is a replacement but he'll have to do it first for him to be a replacement. Our 4th line Center was Mike Richards and as bad as he was towards the end he still was a big help in the 2014 run, who's our 4th line center now? Nick Freakn Shore, a mistake or a bad penalty waiting to happen, guy has become trash and Sutter doesn't even want him on the roster. He wanted to send him down if the Purcell/Schultz trade happened.

It may not all be doom and gloom but don't close your eyes and think this team is just going to wake up and press some button and fix itself, that sure as **** didn't work last year.

nah, none of those things are a big deal. Dustin Brown was still solid in '14 playoffs despite being a dumpster fire in the regular season. Lucic is a good JDub replacement. Our bottom six is arguably better, if Shore continues to be a liability defensively Sutter will play Lewis as 4C and roll Clifford/Lewis/Nolan. We'll either see Brown, Versteeg, or Gaborik on that bottom six, and that's pretty damn good depth everything considered. The real holes are from the departures of Mitchell and Voynov. That's the biggest problem by far, the rest is fluff. We went from Voynov/Mitchell/Regehr to Schenn/McNabb/Scuderi. That's a large downgrade unfortunately.

When the trade was first made, Vinny & Mersch had EXCELLENT chemistry together. IMHO, that'll be our secret weapon for the playoffs. If Versteeg is added to that line, all the better.....
