Because McGinn has more offensive upside and can be used in the playoffs. But why trade him now? Trade him at the draft.

Lecavalier and Schenn have both been great.

Jim Benning says he spoke to every team on Radim Vrbata's trade list, but didn't get an offer on him.
and we still need a Voynov replacement
But what's the point of trading him now unless they need a roster spot. It's valuable depth and he works with the team already.
In comparing DL's 2016 acquisitions with 2006, looks unfortunately eerily similar.
2016: Lecavalier, Schenn, Scuderi, Versteeg....
2006: Calder, Handzus, Nagy, Stuart.
kind of feels like Dean's start here, in terms of their 'current worth'
as in all 8 of these players had seen their best years and are /were on the
downward slope.
so
additions:
Versteeg
LeCavalier
Schenn
Scuderi
Sutter
subtractions:
Zykov
Weal
3rd rd pick
5th rd pick
Sabourin
well, we've given a lot more before for a lot less, but i guess when there's nothing else to give it's in itself a form of prevention
we really need to start focusing on the future, this core isn't all that great
Brown & Gaborik are holding way too much money and it's damaging the roster
and we still need a Voynov replacement
If you want to feel better about the Kings, head over to the Canucks board and read the meltdown.
Kings didn't have much to trade and didn't get much in return. Attempts were made but ultimately anything more than a patch up job was probably too pricey. It may look bad but if the guys can just wake up, it won't be so bad. NOBODY is scoring goals, NOBODY. They haven't scored more than 3 goals in a game since the Rangers game(when Gaborik was injured) and the defense has gotten way tighter. It's like 2012 all over again.
"This core isn't all that great."

[but in 2006 these guys were the core not the pieces added to a great core lol some of the stuff you guys come up with
