It's true, and rather simple. You deal Hemsky for a 1st that can be flipped for a defender or something that we need.

We are in a position where not that many teams need Hemsky, but every team wants a first round pick. IF its possible I'd move Hemsky in hopes of improving this team.

If they do it before the draft I wouldn't be upset considering the standings, but if it's available now I have no problem with it.

The Oilers already have draft picks they could trade including a 1st. If there is a trade to be made they don't have to move anyone to make it.

Maybe I missed something, but isn't there a rule that you can't trade a player that's on the IR? Meaning that Belanger can't be traded?

Am I confused?

Kypreos just made me super excited, saying Raffi Torres could be a fit. ;)

I wasn't too happy when the Oilers traded away Torres, but I kinda understood it. I thought they did it because he didn't score enough to be a top 6 player and the roster was pretty much filled in the bottom 6. Well... that second part isn't true anymore. So yeah, I'd be very happy to have him back.

Based on what the Insiders are saying on the networks:
-Oilers aren't dealing Whitney
-Oilers may deal Khabby to Toronto if they don't get a big fish
-Oilers are open to moving Belanger, Jones
-Oilers could have interest in Torres
-Oilers will keep an eye out for a top six forward
-Kypreos said Ryan Jones could ask for between 2.5 and 3M per year (what?)

I can't imagine Khabby is traded if they are serious about a playoff run. As much as I've criticized Khabby on this board, he's still a better backup than Yan Denis.

Torres is one of the dirtiest players in the league. Hope he stays far away from Edmonton.

I'm with it... Maybe not all in, but I think we should try and push for a playoff spot, even if we get bounced in the first round. As a musician they say, a gig is worth a 10 practices. I feel it's the same way with our team. Get the kids a taste of the playoffs, so they want it even more next year.

Bang on. If they make it this year and get bounced early, maybe they're ready to go deep next year. But, it won't happen. Tambo values an 18 year old that might help in 2017 more than playoffs in 2013.

I don't get this. This team isn't going on a "playoff run", it's trying to make the playoffs. Add to that, if you move Habby to the Leafs, you could likely get Scrivens back, or trade for a cheap backup, Leighton, Boucher, etc.

I wonder what we'd have to add to Belanger to get Ott out of Buffalo?

And yeah, no interest at all in Jones at that price.

Jones + Belanger + 2nd for Ott?

You need somebody who can play in net for the next couple of weeks if need be. Are any of those other goalies an improvement or even a sideways deal? Is it worth messing up the chemistry of the locker room, where Khabby is well-liked, to get an extra draft pick? I don't think so.
