I have zero clue of what Edmonton may do tomorrow.

Torres would be nice.

A top four D-man would be nice.

I wouldn't be angry if Whitney, Belanger or someone who sucks were to be dealt.

But Edmonton always surprises on deadline day.

With K Lowe as the GM they did. Has Tambo ever done anything on deadline day?

Whitney ANH second and a fifth for Streit.(rental for Rental) with incentive on NYI side two picks if Streit is going to walk anyway.

Ott for Jones and a 3rd in 2014.

These two moves could easily counter the STL additions.

What possible reason would Buffalo have for trading Ott for Jones and a 3rd?

It's just so simple

It's not, which is exactly why I don't expect anything to happen tomorrow.

Moving Hemsky for picks makes us worse, especially if we're chasing WITH Columbus for a spot. It's not like he's a UFA, either... So why rush him out the door for a first rounder?

Trading Hemsky needs to be an offseason move when you can do a legitimate hockey deal.

Quite simply, yes Edmonton would love to add the right piece... But they've made it clear that they're not really interested in a "rental" and they'd like someone who could be part of the team moving forward. Those types of deals are hard to come by when you have contenders selling picks and prospects to sellers for their assets.

Buffalo is selling, so I can't see them even beginning to consider that.

I don't mind that deal Whitney/Streit, not sure how the Isles would feel about it.

Also, I don't think the Oilers need to "counter" anyone deals, they need to get better.

Yes it does, but Trades aren't forever, you can move stuff that you get, not sure why that's complicated.

You don't "rush him out the door", you get value and use that value to get a different piece to help your team. NOT COMPLICATED

I cant see why NYI would consider trading Streit , their Captain, in the midst of a playoff run. Wang is short of money from what we are lead to believe, and even if they went out in 4 straight in the 1st play off round, he would make a tidy return on 2 home games.
Its sends a terrible message to the teammates, who need their young guys to experience play off hockey ( like us)

My guess would be if they miss the playoffs or go out in Round 1, they will aim to sign and trade Streit at that time, if his $ demands are too rich for them

According to TSN, he's been in the top 5 most active on deadline day, during the past couple of years.

The Kotalik/O'Sullivan trades
Whitney for Visnovsky
Penner deal
Gilbert for Schultz

Might be missing some, but these all impacted our team one way or another with Tambo at the helm.

Cole for O'Sullivan and a 2nd (flipped for Kotalik)
Lubo for Whitney
Penner for Klefbom and 1st
Gilbert for Schultz

Does actually seem to be good for one significant move a year at the deadline. Not always good ones though.

It's true, and rather simple. You deal Hemsky for a 1st that can be flipped for a defender or something that we need.

We are in a position where not that many teams need Hemsky, but every team wants a first round pick. IF its possible I'd move Hemsky in hopes of improving this team.

If they do it before the draft I wouldn't be upset considering the standings, but if it's available now I have no problem with it.

Whitney in his last 15 games has 8 pts and is +1 versus Streit who is 8 pts in his last 15 and -5. Not sure if I want to give him up yet. To me there seems little point at this moment to add streit unless he was added on TOP of what we have.

Seriously guys? Counter St. Louis's moves?
I can pretty much guarantee that Tambellini isn't looking to keep up in an arms race. The Oilers aren't in win now mode like a lot of teams hovering around the 8th spot so he's not going to mortgage any part of the future for guys like Streit, Ott etc. I think Torres would be a good get and would come pretty cheap but i don't even think he's on Tambo's radar.

We might see something minor like Jones for a pick or what looks to be a real longshot now, Whitney for picks. I just don't see any moves right now to add players, the offseason will be a different story though IMO.

Sure, you can... But do you really think we can get a better player with picks than Hemsky is right now? I don't.

That's why it doesn't make sense to me to deal Hemsky right now. And for the record, I'm one of the ones that thinks he needs to be traded in the offseason.

Look at what teams are giving up for assets right now anyways... It isn't a sellers market. Now is not the time to deal Hemsky.

We do have an extra 2nd and we don't have a 3rd...

wouldn't be shocked if someone is dealt for a 3rd and we deal one of those 2nds for help.

Well of those "few" teams that would "need" Hemsky Columbus would qualify.

From the recent Flames deals I think we can get something with them. They targeted Berra whom they think is one of the best goalies not in the NHL in Europe and a few NCAA prospects. Here in Edmonton we have a player named Linus Omark who the Flames might consider one of the best players not in the NHL and few have a few NCAA prospects like McCarron and the Jones brothers (2for1 :naughty:). Wonder if we can swing something together for GlenX?

:sarcasm::sarcasm:

My guess is the Oilers stand pat tomorrow.

Leafs are in luck trying to get an experience big name goalie, somehow they got the Canucks & the Flames bidding against each other in a reverse goalie sell off.

Gillis dangling Luongo: I'll take a Bozak, no, McArthur, no, Frattin, no, 2nd round pick... alright best i can do is a 3rd rd pick

Feaster dangling Kipper: I'll take Frattin, no, 2nd rd pick, no, 3rd rd pick, nah, 4th rd pick... okay, final offer... I'll take your 2008 5th rd 130th overall pick... Jerome Flaake!

Nonis: Jarome who?
Feaster: Jerome Flaake! The best left winger not playing in the NHL!!! Currently playing for the Hamburg Freezer!
Nonis: Sure.
Gillis: Flaaking Jerome... Feaster just loves feasting on Hamburger in the freezer....

Considering the picks and prospects that are being moved, wouldn't this actually make Omark a more valuable trading chip? Surprised haven't heard many rumours involving him.

Apparently he **** the bed for Zug in their playoff series. He was benched for the 7th game much the the chagrin of their fanbase.

Disappointing, but at least the guy's consistent.

Honestly, this is sincerely good news

#Oilers said to be shopping C Eric Belanger. They say his groin issues will allow him to play this season. #TradeTracker

I'm not sure what, if anything, will come out of it, but nice to see.

I can't see the Leafs choosing Luongo. If they are really looking for insurance for Reimer why not go with Kipper? Word on TSN was that he'd be open to re-working his deal. Potential adding term for a lower cap hit.

More and more it seems as if Lou will be bought out.

We're not going to get anything for Belanger, but at least it's something. I don't know what offers Tambo is getting for Hemsky, Whitney, Gagner but he's never been one to pull the trigger on a big deal. Lets face it, the best player he's acquired in his tenor is Ryan Whitney.
