Adding a forward won't help with Kopitar playing the way he is. If he wakes up and Gaborik plays the way he did last night then I don't think they need scoring help. I think they could use a defensively responsible center who is good on faceoffs. I don't have much faith in Dowd and Shore yet.

Would've loved to get Boyle back. I would've been fine paying that price if he signed an extension right now for $2 million a season.

Can they trade this year's version of Kopitar for last year's Kopitar?

Same goes for Muzzin and Toffoli. The three complete the trifecta of big disappointments in 2016-17.

Truly.

If you had been told prior to game 1 this year, that the Kings would be 2 points
out of a playoff spot on March 1, with: Quick out entire time, Kopitar with 6 goals,
Toffoli with 12 goals and Gaborik with 7....you would not have believed it. It is pretty remarkable (NOT impressive) that only 4 players have double digit goals (the Wild have 11 players double digits) and hanging in...that's crazy.

So I take it Dean is gonna protect Doughty, Forbort, Martinez, and Muzzin in the expansion? There's gotta be one guy in there that's the odd man out or will be used as trade bate for a forward...

Well the team better gird their loins. No outside help is coming.

Will Kopitar kry to the media? I saw Brown drive more to the net than Kopi last night.

he was literally asked a direct question about Dean acquiring a scoring winger, its not like he was pleading for help to reporters like some of you people are implying. :shakehead

Rosen was also hinting that Brodzinski could be called up after the deadline.

Should've been done in the first place, I like Kempe's potential but he clearly doesn't look ready yet. Meanwhile Brods has 20 goals in 50 games down in Ontario

What's the point of getting someone to play with Kopitar if offensively Kopi is having a really, really bad year? As much as I had higher hopes at the start of the season, we don't have the center depth. We have one center who can score goals. One.

Jonny B. Could come up for the experience, likely taking Kempe's spot, but I don't expect it to amount to much.

Good to see Gabby. step it up yesterday. It's hard to see a great guy like Kopi struggle so much. Everybody has to go through it at one time or another, but I feel for him. He doesn't show much emotion but I think he's feeling it deeply.

Makes sense. I think Vrbata would cost a 1st unless no team bites and someone jumps in last minute and offers a 2nd to get a deal done. Vanek, Iginla and Doan are probably going to cost a 2nd or 3rd rounder, which is probably not worth it.

Vrbata has a complicated contract, 500K for games played and points , both of which he's passed. 250K for each playoff round, which adds up.

I'd much rather see what Brods can do and hold on to assets, unless there is a legit hockey trade to be made with one of Muzzin/Martinez.

Kopitar is the answer for Kopitar and not somebody like Vanish or Sharp.

It's just frustration talking. He's having difficulty doing the little things, a center is the main cog on each line, a winger isn't going to fix his hesitancy to shoot or win key faceoffs. He needs to figure himself out.

He didn't plead for it, not one bit.

He did, however, say it was needed.

No, Kopitar, what is needed is you playing much better. $14MM center and captain is supposed to make those around him better and not need a "scoring winger" to get going.

Do we all understand that people are talking about guys like Vanish/Sharp/Vrbata in order to get our $14MM center going and not the other way around?

Love the guy, really do. I don't dislike him nor do I want to see him jettisoned, but his play makes yesterday's comment completely open to criticism. The fact that he laid that **** sandwich last night just compounds it.

Kopitar has always managed to get his 60-70 points a season, but I always felt that he was only as good as his wingers. Carter, on the other hand, is able to make his wingers better, whether he is playing with Pearson or Toffoli on the 70s line, King, or Brown, everyone excels around him.

I am sure there are advanced stats and other figures purportedly showing Kopitar making his wingers better, but my eye test shows me otherwise. I respect his defensive game, his ability to keep possession and drive the puck, but he has been really uncreative this season. All he does is drive down low, circle around the net and pass to the point. Its like he has no other move to his game.
