I think the Kings should target Tatar. They should do a Burrows like trade where the Kings give up a high draft pick, but make the trade only of Tatar signs with the Kings as part of the trade.

Something like 2nd round pick for Tatar signed for two years at $2.5MM. I believe Tatar played with Kopitar on Team Europe, maybe they will have some chemistry there. With respect to cap implications next year, we could just not resigned King and try to unload other excessive cap hits that can be replaced with youth, such as Clifford. Also, Matt Greene is likely going to retire or go on LTIR, so his $2.5MM wont count.

Tatar is a multiple time 20 goal scorer making $2.75 million right now. He's not signing for anything under $4 million a year I'd imagine.

Let's hope so with Greene, at least as far as LTIR goes. He won't be retiring and forfeiting his cash. My concern is he is a warrior and he'll somehow be healthy enough to start the season.

He's kind of been counted out like this before.

Who's excited about giving-up a second round pick for Vanish? Slow down, not all at once...

Not sure if we can since it's potentially committed to the Bishop trade.

Not bloody likely but still.

Well, we can either trade our 2nd now OR we can trade the prospect we pick in the 2nd round for another rental a year or so down the line.:sarcasm:

rofl!

With this weak draft I wouldn't be opposed to trading our first-round pick. Previous years, not so much.

ETA: just not giving up the pick for a rental. A young roster player and I'd be a happy camper.

Who are they getting with the 1st round pick?

It would have to be for a non-rental player.

This team has done nothing to deserve a rental player at the cost of a 1st round pick.

Edit- And it appears you clarified rental/non-rental.

:)

I'd rather invest than blow it all at the casino.

The biggest problem with Kopitar is that the entire organization is not putting any pressure on him to perform. Sutter keeps giving him passes, Lombardi was lack luster in his criticism, and Kopi himself seems to be going through the motions when self critiquing. I don't blame him for saying the team needs a winger; he's not lying about that. I blame him for lacking any intensity when it comes to how abysmal his production has been.

I'm tired of the entire organization thinking that offense is just something that happens randomly and magically: luck is involved, but it is demonstrably not just that. Why does it take giving up 7 goals for Carter to call the team gutless, yet when we score less than 10 goals in 8 games no one bats an eye?

Kopitar's reaction when he finds out Dean isn't adding a scoring winger tomorrow...

Would not be surprised if tonight's result influences DL's next move, if Quietar's performance last night didn't already do so.

Thats what I'm thinking; if we lose tonight we'll be 7 points behind Calgary.

If we win I think we take the Blues spot as the final WC.

Makes me wonder what's going on behind the scenes tbh. Must be a reason.

With or without one though, he still deserves a paddlin'.

Jon Rosen just said on the Insider that it's all quiet on the Kings front. Taking calls but nothing close. He's also turned down pretty much every name that people have asked. Said "highly doubtful" to Vanek, Vrbata, Sharp.

Adding a forward won't help with Kopitar playing the way he is. If he wakes up and Gaborik plays the way he did last night then I don't think they need scoring help. I think they could use a defensively responsible center who is good on faceoffs. I don't have much faith in Dowd and Shore yet.

Rangers deal a 2018 #2 and a 2017 #3 for Brendan Smith? Damn. What does that make the value of Martinez?

If so,the Kings playoffs is over.Dean needs to step down. The team needed at lease a scoring LW for Kopi to complete.
