Toronto/Fredericton
On the latest Marek Pod, Elliotte Friedman said that Dumba and Toronto wanted to make a signing happen this summer but Dumba needed 1 or 1.5 more than Klingberg at that time, so the leafs made their choice and dumba came here, ultimately for even less.

My take: Odds are both sides regret their choice and wish they made it work. With Tanev and Zadorov traded seemingly “anywhere but to Tre” - I guess dumba is likely VERY much on Torontos radar. He fits the type they want. And they wanted him specifically as recently as 6 months ago.

I think the Islanders ‘24 3rd makes some sense.
Just like I hope you guys get the arena situation fixed. Please hope that we don't get Dumba and ship him elsewhere.

Zucker and Dumba seem to be going for sure. Beyond those two, who would be the biggest surprise to move at the deadline (within reason)?

Bush getting a 3rd and a 6th is helpful for the Dumba return. Bush blows.

Dunno why Carolina is eating cap for picks.

Mosby, what is the goal post where we stop adding picks and start to trade them?

Very good chance this happens on draft day. Especially if we add more picks for this year. In 2025 they will definitely move several of those picks. It really comes down to the right opportunities presenting themselves. They’ll need to be McBain and Durzi rather than Taylor Hall, type opportunities.

Craig’s new article is pretty nuts. He seems to believe the Yotes wouldn’t move Bjugstad, Kerfoot, Vejmelka oe Schmaltz unless the return package included a 1st. That’s pretty goofy to me. I assume he means that the coyotes would add a pick and/or retain and/or take back a contract to make that happen.

Yup, there is no way we're getting a first for any of Bjug, Kerfoot, or Vej.

Definitely Bjugstad. Returned pick + prospect last year as an upcoming FA. If they retained $600k (making his AAV $1.500) I could definitely see someone offering up a 1st.
Would be a low $, high value 3/4C for a playoff team they would have this year and next.

I would go Zucker plus our 2nd for Logan Stankoven. We have lots of size and Logan has the skill to be a 2nd line center.

This is the kind of trade I am hopeful for.We may have to retain salary.

Dallas wants to win now and they have Edmonton, Vegas and the Avs to get through.
A second would be what they drafted Logan for. They would get Zucker at 50 percent for two years pretty much for free.

Zucker can play any line and any forward position. Great insurance for a long cup run. If we have to add another 2nd I would.

We need centers or Dmen from the 2020ish draft to speed things up. Smallish centers always have a lower ask price it seems.

I'm not interested in trading Bjugstad or Kerfoot. I want them on the team next year. We can trade them in a year if we're out of the playoffs race again.

Trade our UFAs for whatever picks we can get. The rental price hasn't gone bonkers yet. Some years it does. Hopefully it will again and Bill can capitalize.

Why? His brother asked (forced) his way out of Calgary
The GM of Ottawa, Staios, says those rumors are BS (not that GMs don't lie). Ryan Whitney was the source and Chiclets is more of a low iq, frat party type source than one of grand, hockey, cerebrality and fact. Beyond that, why would they move him? They have him signed for the next 4 years beyond this one, and he's the type of player you build around, not move.

Also, sidenote to other recent conversations, this is the type of crap useless points get a team. Senators 67 points got them Brady Tkachuk, Coyotes 70 points landed them one pick later to get Barret Hayton. Maybe the kid genius still picks Hayton cuz he wanted a 1C so bad but...the right play would've been to select Brady. This team should've done all things possible to always have a Tkachuk on it.

You don’t get a prospect of Stankoven’s caliber in a trade like that.
