If theres anyone who can make Sullivan look like a prodigy, its going to be Elias. I'm looking for Elias-Zubrus-Sullivan. Hell, stick any center in.

Gaborik on conference call while driving to airport: 'It's nice to be on a team that really wants me'

Yikes.

I guess he wasn't happy with Tortorella or the fans by the end. The life cycle of a Rangers UFA signing continues right on schedule.

Well then. RT @jmanasso: Poile on Erat's trade request, "I can’t sugarcoat it, it’s really disappointing." #Preds

I kind of agree. Lou had made some solid trades this year, we're probably still lacking a bit in the top 6, but when we're fully healthy the lineup isn't bad.

Erat is a solid player, didn't think he'd be available. Very underrated.

It is better then the opening day lineup. Everyone just needs to perform.

Erat's been there forever too hasn't he? Well not quite as long as the Preds have, but his whole career.

Happy we didn't pay the price for Pominville but I realllllllly wanted him.

I did too, but not at that price. No way no how.

So did the Rags get anything out of there deal that helps them right now? Obviously Gaborik is happy, but I know nothing about the guys they got in the deal. Strang over at ESPN pretty much saying the win for the Rags is getting rid of Gaborik's cap hit.

Brassard is a Rob Niedermayer type (great skater) who's never lived up to his lofty draft position.

Pretty much the cap felx helps them they have RFA's they need to lock up.

Brassard can become a real good 2C but other than that....not much..John Moore can become like a MAB type player.

On the bright side we'll be in a good position to pick up a free agent in the offseason once all these teams have to shed their ridiculous salaries

Landing one of Horton, Filppula, Stalberg, MacArthur, Ryder, Raymond could be possible. Also could be easier to trade for a forward in the off season rather than at the deadline.

Stalberg is intriguing. Size, incredible speed but average hands.

gotta sign someone this season. Forwards are sad to look at right now.

Weis and Horton are Deboer boys. Does our broke owner have the money for them and a volch buyout?

Horton would be good. I'd rather give him the $5 million than Clarkson. I doubt Boston signs him since they're up near the cap and it looks like they had to choose between him and Lucic and they gave Lucic the extension before the lockout.

Pete coached Horton in Florida.

I'm not sure if Horton and Deboer really got along, but it's clear Lou will have to be busy making some changes at forward and possibly looking at the goalie situation as well.

I know I'm never full cereal mode but really... any info on how much our owner can spend? Cause if we are stuck with limited money and have to ice this team again with no UFA upgrades then I dunno.

Both goalies have no trade clauses. They aren't going anywhere. Besides Moose is much better as a backup.

One thing I don't get is why everyone is so quick to push Gio out of the lineup for Josefson. Gio has 11 points in 36 games, Jacob had 1 point in 16 games which was actually an assist on a Gionta goal.

The production is a fair counterpoint (mostly because Josefson can't ever stay healthy) and it was raised when I went on a rage against Gionta being in the lineup a few weeks ago, but there's no denying how awful Gionta has been lately. I mean yes, I get that he's essentially only viewed as a 4th liner and gravy and all that, but he's been really really bad the last month and Deboer doesn't help him at all by putting him in situations he can't handle and continuing to stubbornly do it.

I wish Gionta all the best in honesty, but if he's on this team next year, I might rage again.
