After everyone is healthy, our lines could look like this.

Henrique - Lokti - Kovy
Elias - Zajac - Clarkson
Poni - Zubrus - D'Ag's
Bernier - Gionta - Carter

I don't understand where Josefson or Sullivan fit in? It's not like they're much of an improvement over anyone else we have in the top 9. I don't get the Sullivan trade

Kovy doesn't exist for the rest of the season until the last week in April, if then. Josefson's not going to play right off, unless they scratch Gionta the way 98% of the board wants, he's just around for an extra center so they don't have to play Sestito or Matteau as a pivot every time one of the top guys goes down.

Poni, D'Agostini, Gio and Sullivan don't have to play. You can rotate them in and out of the lineup if neccesary. There's nothing to say we'll 'ever' have a fully healthy forward lineup so having depth is good.

One thing I don't get is why everyone is so quick to push Gio out of the lineup for Josefson. Gio has 11 points in 36 games, Jacob had 1 point in 16 games which was actually an assist on a Gionta goal.

Carter has definitely earned his spot.

i would agree, but i don't think they traded for sullivan to have him be a healthy scratch, i don't think they would call up yayo to have him be a healthy scratch, and i don't think they would make one of clarkson, dags or poni a healthy scratch (who are the only people in the lineup it would make sense to scratch after that).

i just don't see where all these guys fit

almost feels like we were going to trade two forwards for one but then ran out of time or something.

I think Poni gets scratched before Carter.

I didn't say I was one of the 98% ;)

But yeah, I'm not in a hurry to get Gio out of the lineup. I could see a scenario where he gets benched though, especiallly if they keep playing him beyond his level and he stinks it up enough defensively. The Josefson of last year is a lot better than Gio defensively anyway. I'd still rather just leave Gio as a fourth-liner only, and a fourth-liner that isn't allowed to take faceoffs.

IF playoffs, I see depth and versatility. With a bottom 6 and a top 6 more than a regular 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th type of lines.

I suppose.

I know you didn't, I actually started posting that before I saw your post that was before mine. I just saw a couple people saying it on the last page, and shook my head. I like Josefson, but I can't see pushing him into the lineup over Gionta. Over Sestito or Barch/Kostopolous sure, but not Gionta. With Sullivan I'm trying to think of who we got in the lineup. I don't see Kovy back until the last week.

It gives you versatility and depth. There doesn't have to be a real purpose beyond that.

The cost was a 7th. Who cares.

Yea sure. Lou got good value for a 7th rounder. But I don't think forward depth was this teams problem.

But all these decisions about getting bottom 6 depth doesn't really matter until the top 6 gets their head out of their *****.

Right. The top six needs to perform.

But I agree with Lou in his restraint from trading away valuable young assets for older top six help. Freaking Martin Erat returned Filip Forsberg.

Sully made be old but he still has pretty slick hands.

Its a shame Kovy is injured because i think the two of them would work well together.

Kovy naturally draws the D and is a good playmaker. Sully could get some open looks and of course he is a better finisher than Poni, Matteau and whoever else we have rotated on his other wing.

So we got Sullivan to play on the first line?

****in insane. Can't believe Forsberg went for Erat.

And Kovy is going to play like 4 games anyway with Sullivan on the PP for like 3 minutes.

Sullivan on the 1st line wouldn't be the weirdest thing we've seen this season on there. Matteau, Tedenby, Josefson, we even had Ponikarovsky there for like a month.:laugh:

I'm confused why the thread title mentions Zidlicky. Was there really a credible rumour that he would be moved today?

He missed practice for a family issue, nobody knew why he was held out until after practice ended.

No he was just missing from practice. Then when TG and the media made it to the locker room his equipment was in his locker, and Pete said he had a family issue he was dealing with and that he's supposed to meet the team in Boston.

Ah ok, that makes sense. I can see why the board would overreact to that.
