Ah great Rangers and Flyers won. Rangers jump over us with the wins tie breaker. Only four points ahead of the Flyers now... If the Devils lose and Isles win tomorrow we are on the outside looking in.

I only said I would start to panic if the Devs played poorly enough to fall back into the 8-13 group in the East. Well we are about to.

He's actually a pretty poor center and he relies on guys like Bernier and Carter to do the dirty work, who are far superior players and much more effective in their roles regardless of who plays on their line.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this.

I'm as steadfast and resolute on my anti-Gionta stance as I have ever been.

Gionta has been great this season. The guy is easily one of the better 4th line players in the league.

Is it really shocking that no other team wanted the poor and overpaid defensemen that everyone complains about?

Any other team would probably only be interested in Larsson, Fayne, or Greene.. You want to trade one of them?

People act like only good defensemen got moved. Jordan Leopold and Douglas Murray went for significant returns, neither are great shakes themselves. Jay Bouwmeester's contract got traded.

Just curious, but why do you guys want Moose to retire? He's a good BACKUP. Just not a good starter. He was good in most every game this season when he was playing as a backup. The only game he sucked as a backup was that game against the Pisles which was a total no show from the entire team.

Because I think it's time to start transitioning in a successor to Marty, and he's taking up a spot that we need for that.

Both of which are UFA at the end of this year.. If Tallinder and Volch were upcoming UFA, maybe they would have been moved.

J-Bo is also a better player than those guys.

No one wants Peter Harrold and Salvador isn't getting traded..

So, who could you see take Volch and Tallinder, and what do you think could of been the return?

Volch is very comparable to Murray but his contract isn't friendly with the new CBA. Tallinder probably could have netted a 3rd or 4th and I wouldn't have been overly thrilled with that.

I am a bit disappointed seeing other teams, who are NOT in need of adding Forward-depth landing some big guns,...and NJ did not

Next time Marty is injured or Moose for that matter we need to give one of our younger guys a chance to start some games. You don't want older guys like Marty and Moose starting umpteen games in a row. Pete was playing Moose like Marty Brodeur pre 2010 where he would play 78 games a year and most back to backs. Back then though we needed Marty cause our backups sucked. Terreri was winding down, Clemmensen wasn't good during his first tenure, and Weekes really wasn't that good with us. We needed Marty as most times he gave us our only chance to win. You gotta wonder if it was Moose who got injured if Marty would have gotten that kind of a workload since Pete particularly monitored him last year with the purpose of being fresh for the playoffs.

Moose had zero confidence when he was being rolled every game. Most of you were not against bringing back Moose, and as much as I've been slagging Lou for this years poor roster I never once said I regretted bringing back Moose. Nor called out Lou for rolling two 40 year old goalies, but some have. Just Salvador is the only one I regret taking back for what he's making, but I did want him back in the beginning.

I guarantee we have a free agent/trade goalie fill the gap between Brodeur and Kinkaid/Wedgewood. It shouldn't be a concern.

People freaked out when Hedberg played this year. "This is life when Brodeur retires." Wrong. We'll have a better goalie than Hedberg as our full time goalie once Brodeur leaves.

Again, I said this before, but it's absurd how many people on the main board are freaking out on Stevie Y for the Bishop trade, calling it the most lopsided trade of the day, etc.

It's really not bad at all, as so many HF'ers are saying. Tampa has a surplus of promising, young forwards (Killorn, Panik, Palat, Connolly, and Johnson). Tampa really needed a goalie they can build around, and IMO Bishop and Lindback is a good tandem to start with. Also, there's Vasilevski coming up in the future. He dealt from a position of strength to deal with a weakness. Conacher is not even very proven, he just had a very hot start to the season. Plus, Tampa got Conacher for free! Good trade for both teams

Oh and as for Sullivan, do you guys think he'll be given PP time? Because otherwise, I see zero reason as to why he's here.

Yup we will, and I been saying this since Marty and Moose both re signed. This team won't go from Marty to Wedgewood or Kinkaid in one year. Unless Marty plays past this contract, or one of them gets a fill in role due to injury and gets to go on a run Clemmensen style. That's on Pete though for riding the Moose into the ground. One of the very few complaints I've had with him through all of this.

And I think that trade for Bishop is really bad. Stevie Y thinks he can keep plucking goalies, but it's that piss poor defense he's icing down here. Bishop will post a 900 save percentage too down there just like Lindback. The goalie isn't really the problem down there. Even Roloson wasn't quite as bad as his number looked last year. It was a combination of Roloson breaking down, and a putrid defense. Bishop is a UFA also this year I think? That and the Lightning have literally no chance of making the playoffs unless they can sneak in as the SE division winner. And yes I think Sully plays the power play when he comes.

Marty might very well play until he's 45

I'm not sure about that, and I'm not sure if you're serious or not!

I can see him playing one more year past this contract, but a few things have to go right. He'd have to play as well or almost as well as he has for the past year. He has to stay healthy and not have any repeat injuries or any serious one at all. And then the team has to be competitive. If we miss the playoffs next year I think he's done for sure. I still think if we missed the playoffs last year he retires last Summer. I think if we don't go to the SCF that Marty just signs a one year deal, and retires if a lockout took out a whole season like he said he would initially before signing that two year contract.

Remember Marty was making it sound like he was done in 2012 during the Maclean debacle. He also sounded like he was 50/50 coming into last season. It wasn't until the halfway point he said he expects to be back for the next season. When asked what made him so confident on coming back he answered ''Winning''.
